Book 1-The Dark Wind Howls Over Mary -Sheriff Stringbean Hooper's job description for sheriff is relaxing while he watches the town out his office window. Fay Risner lives with her husband, Harold, on a central Iowa acreage along with their sheep, milk goats, chickens, rabbits and cats. She has one son, Duane. A former Certified Nurse Aide at the Keystone Nursing Care Center in Keystone, Iowa, she now divides her time between writing books, working in her flowers and the garden and going fishing with her husband in their boat.
