Bright start to a new series

I love Marina's style. This is a different setting than her St. Helena series and her characters are also quite different. She did a great job setting up a new series of books with her same interesting style of writing.

Loved this book, I have been a fan of Marina since her first book and her books just get better and better. Love this new series almost as much as her St. Helena Vineyard Series. The characters were wonderful and I cannot wait for the next in the series because I know it will be just as amazing. As soon as I picked this book up I just had to finish it.

New author and LOVED IT!  I loved all of the characters and the story was great. I laughed so hard sometimes I had to put the book down. The grandma mafia were a hoot but Joie was a wonderful character. This book has it all southern humor, sass, sweet romance and will tug your heart strings.  I can't wait for the next book in the series and will have to check out her other books.

When Sugar’s best-known son and the Yankee outsider get together, there are more fireworks than the 4th of July. While Brett helps Joie rediscover the real her, she might just teach him a thing or two about the real him. And it is an entertaining ride every step of the way. From opossums in the attic to gun-toting grandmas, Joie has a hilarious journey ahead of her as she tries to discover her place in the world and we’re there for every laugh-out-loud and heart-tugging moment. Marina Adair hit the nail on the head. Not only is this story sweet, funny, and full of Southern charm, it's got just enough sizzle to make sure you can't put it down. I adored the St. Helena series, but now I can't get enough Sugar!

Reviewed by Colantha Book provided by NetGalley for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book Josephina finds out that her life is all a lie…and during those first few pages, I felt for her. I felt for her even more as more and more she gains a sense of who she is, it moves away from her. That is a reason why I loved the personality that Josephina possessed. However, I did not like that she and Brett didn’t bring up more of how they knew each other — I wanted to get more of a glimpse of them in their younger years rather than a few conversations! The secondary characters, especially Brett’s brother Cal and his daughter were other characters I really enjoyed getting to know throughout the story and I look forward to the sequel. Sugar’s Twice as Sweet is a southern romance that totally takes you to a town of loyal, close communities- so loyal that the group of old ladies worked their hardest to bully Josephina back to New York City and the plan almost worked. And to be honest, I was a little sad at the disrespect that the ladies had for her, especially when her grandmother had been their friend. I wish that it was her nasty ex or Babette who I disliked the most, but instead it was Brett’s grandmother. While I really enjoyed the chemistry between Brett and Josephina. It was hot. But, I found the romance and story line ran a bit longer than needed, but it could be that I was so anxious to see them get their happily ever after! Marina Adair’s sweet southern romance holds snippets of humor found in Rachel Gibson’s or Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ writing. While this is my first book of her, I think fans of those authors should give Marina Adair a try. Favorite Quote: “If this was the southern way of respecting one’s neighbor, then she might legally change her name to Joie- Beth- Marie and get herself some big hair and a gun rack, because his lips looked amazing.”

Sugar & Spice makes this read ultra nice! Surgar's definitely Twice as sweet in this first of the Sugar, Georgia series by Marina Adair. Laugh out loud funny, this author never ceases to surprise me with her wit and quirky characters -- characters who live in my mind long after the book is closed. With so much going on in the story -- the main romance, the family interaction, the town's characters...and I do mean characters -- I kept turning the pages to see what Adair had up her sleeve next. I was never disappointed. I enjoyed each and every little turn in the road and knot in the plot. Kudos, Ms. Adair! Keep these fun, sexy reads coming! A seriously fun, sweet and sexy, sexy read all around! Definitely a must read series!

Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Marina’s story telling made me laugh, cry and again, fall in love not only with the hero and heroine but the town’s people and their history. Sugar’s Twice as Sweet is a good start to this small town romance. Josephina had lost everything and her instincts tell her to go to the place where she felt loved and always at peace when she was younger. Her favorite aunt had left her her house. Once full of life and magic, the manor is now nothing but a raggedy money pit. With nothing left in her life, Joie plans to stay in Sugar and turn this manor into a magical place it used to be. Unfortunately, the town of Sugar will not be so welcoming, except for one handsome Bret Mcgraw, the town’s golf player celebrity. I love Joei and her balls to start her life from scratch. Steering away from her parents and wanting to pursue her dreams was a big deal. Given that her motivation came from a broken heart, but her motivation is there. I love Bret even more. He knows exactly what he wanted. He was a playboy athlete but as soon as he saw Josephina in town his priorities changed. I loved their courtship as well as their banters, innuendos and the fact that Bret gets Josephina. I also enjoyed the grannies from hell. The towns bully old timers made me laugh with their activities. They were sometimes over the top with their meddling but these grandmothers are a good fit with this story. I cant help but feel giddy, each time I finish a chapter in this book. I love the light hearted romance,  humor and the promise of more McGraw brothers.  I’m excited to see what Ms. Adair have installed for this series. *ARC provided by publisher

Sugar's Twice as Sweet  is a cute book about northern event planner Josephina and pro golfer Brett. She has just been dumped by her fiancee for being too flighty and Brett has had a sex tape surface after 2 years. They both start over in Sugar, Georgia, Brett's and Joie's aunt hometown. Their chemistry is instantaneous, and they become friends, then lovers.  The book started off really well, the set up for the romance was well written. As the story continued, it became harder to follow and more full of stereotypes. I didn't really like Brett's granny and her friends, but did like his brother and niece.  Overall, the book was cute, but not really my cup of tea.
