Overview

Sunburn by John Lescroart

On Spain's Costa Brava, passion and intrigue are everywhere- especially in the hearts of those who dwell there. As the dictator Franco teeters on the edge of overthrow, two couples are entwined. One is a husband and wife bored with the existence they have drifted into, the other a passionate, combative pair who relish every moment of life. Into this potent mix comes a young American seeking his missing lover-bringing a shadow of danger into the machinations already at work. Soon, loyalty will be tested and blood will be shed as the country of Spain prepares for revolution. And none of them-lovers, fighters, man or woman- will ever be the same.

Lescroart is a really good story teller. This was his first and isn't as good as some of the others I've read, but it is still a good read.

Love this author's Dismas Hardy series... which incidently appears to be pretty much at the end of the road. Unfortunately, I think his publisher must have demanded more books... and he dredged up this drivel from his early writings to reissue. Frankly, not worth the effort. I managed to make it all the way through... sort of like watching a really, really bad movie... you just want to see how bad it can possibly get... almost like watching a train wreck. Sorry, John. But, I think you know it wasn't very good... It's just too bad you weren't embarrassed enough to not reissue it.

It's hard to imagine that the author who wrote this book also wrote others. I have read all of John Lescroart'b books and this is by far the worst one. Others are great.

If you are a regular reader of John Lescroart you might be disappointed with this, his first book. While nowhere like his current books it is an interesting group of people and how things don't always work out as expected.

love his story lines, his characters, and the fact that you don't know the end until you get to the end.
