About the Author

Science stole Sara MacSorley’s heart the first time she visited an aquarium. She studied Marine Biology at the University of Rhode Island thinking she would become a researcher. Instead, she learned that a science degree opens up many more career options and started on a path of science education and outreach. After earning a graduate degree in Business Administration, Sara moved into project management and leadership roles in higher education. The Super Cool Scientists project is Sara’s way of bringing more science into her life. I read the stories, she finds the sight words, we talk about the stories and in turn, we gain a deeper awareness of the amazing contributions these women have made in the world. While this makes an excellent gift for anyone interested in science, it does an especially great job of showing young girls that they can become scientists regardless of their age, ability, skin color, or what country they're from. With great line drawings and a mini (but rich) bio of each scientist, it is more than just a coloring book, it's a cross section of diversity in the female scientific community.
