Taras Bulba II: Cossacks vs Communists

In late 1917 Siberian Cossack Lavr Kornilov rode at the head of a vast army towards Petrograd to support the fledgling Provisional Government. Acting Prime Minister Alexander Kerensky, ever fearful of the Right, interpreted the advance as a power grab. Despite Kornilov's professions to the contrary, Kerensky rebuked and insulted the Cossack and threw a coup d'etat. Alas, the Bolsheviks were quicker and had fewer scruples. They saw weakness in Kerensky, and in a matter of months the Bolsheviks had taken Russia for themselves. Kornilov fled into the Kuban, became a renegade with an ever-dwindling, enervated army, and was eventually killed, his corpse exhumed and desecrated by the Bolsheviks... From there, the Bolsheviks turned westward to the Ukraine, and sought to undo the nation from the inside out...

TARAS BULBA II: COSSACKS VS COMMUNISTS is an homage to and a reimagining of the classic novel TARAS BULBA by Mykola Hohol (Nicolai Gogol). In the spirit of the original TARAS BULBA, this uproarious, comical, rambunctious yarn follows the same basic war plot, but updates the scenery from the 18th century struggles between Ukrainian Cossacks and their various 18th century enemies (Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, other non-Orthodox peoples) to the fascinating, strange, and dark events of World War I, The Russian Civil War, The Polish-Soviet War, and the general Terror of 1920-1921 during Lenin's War Communism. TARAS BULBA II: COSSACKS VS COMMUNISTS weaves through these tumultuous early twentieth century events a positive, entertaining epic of Ukrainian Cossacks defeating Russian Communist invaders and liberating their beloved Kyiv (Kiev). Years of research and training informed and inspired this work.
