Description: The fourth edition of the Tarascon Primary Care Pocketbook continues a tradition of comprehensive books in focused areas.
Purpose: The purpose, as in all of the Tarascon books, is to provide a small, pocket-sized text of basic material to be referenced while on rounds or during the daily office visit schedule.
Audience: This is valuable for every primary care clinician.
Features: The pocket-sized format is tremendously important making the book readily available. The chapters are based on a traditional organ-system approach with subchapters focused on specific issues such as acute abdominal pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, management of back pain, etc. Numerous tables are self-explanatory yet comprehensive.
Assessment: This is one of many pocket-sized references that contain much information and serve as a valuable time-saver. The only difficulty is the very small font that is necessary to meet the size constraints of the book.
