Teach Them To Obey - All That I Have Commanded You

A unique and comprehensive analysis of all the commands of Jesus, grouped and summarised into a simple-to-remember form of three high-level and nine lower-level themes.

This reference source for pastors and teachers presents a comprehensive biblical foundation to address our (the church's) 'failure' to teach disciples to obey all the commands of Jesus.

A detailed analysis of all of the commands of Jesus in the New Testament forms the basis for this work, grouping and summarising them into twelve themes that collectively present over eighty distinct commands (Kingdom Behaviours).

The main material is grouped under three Kingdom Fundamental headings. Two are outward focused - commands that relate to our need to 'Love God' and the requirement to 'Love Your Neighbour As Yourself'. The third addresses commands directed at our inner motivations and behaviours as individuals, under the Kingdom Fundamental title 'Follow Jesus'.

Each chapter includes Kingdom Practice sub-sections: two under 'Love God', four under 'Follow Jesus' and three under 'Love Your Neighbour As Yourself'.

At the lowest level (Kingdom Behaviours), related commands of Jesus are quoted, with any parallel biblical texts highlighted.

Diagrams are included throughout to build and demonstrate the simple structure that is the focus of this material.

This is for anyone with an interest in Jesus's teaching. Above all, those who are discipling fellow followers of Jesus and/or simply want to understand how Jesus's commands can be grouped into a simple to remember structure.

About the Author

Duncan had a long-term career in technical and then management consultancy rising to the most senior consulting rank of Director within a leading UK Consulting firm. For more than 20 years he focused on the analysis and structuring of data to draw out meaningful information and insights. He then structured this to deliver clear, value adding, easy to understand client reports, articles, and conference papers. Duncan has applied this capability to create this unique perspective on all the commands of Jesus in these books - targeted at helping readers to become more intentional disciples by understanding and then putting into practice the key messages from Jesus's teaching. Duncan also gained extensive experience of project specification, procurement, and management in the transport and information technology sectors and worked for British and foreign Government Departments and international institutions. He became a respected transport sector thought leader with over 18 years in that field. His career began with an Aircraft Engineering Apprenticeship after which he obtained an MSc degree and, subsequently, a postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (with Distinction).
He 'retired' early in 2014 and quickly became involved as a volunteer with an international missions organisation where he is currently part of the London team. Duncan has been married since 1985 and both his father and grandfather were Christian ministers. They have one son and daughter-in-law (and two young grandsons) who are in ministry with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) in the UK. Duncan became a follower of Jesus in 1987 and has been an Elder in one fellowship and is currently a Deacon in his home Baptist church where he has oversight of Safeguarding and leads the World-Wide Missions Team. Outside these responsibilities, he enjoys time with family, keeping fit, cooking, gardening, photography and travel - primarily to see wildlife.

Bruxy Cavey is the senior pastor at The Meeting House, a church for people who aren't into church. The Meeting House is a multisite Anabaptist congregation in Ontario, Canada where thousands of people connect with God and each other through a widespread house church network, Sunday services, and online interactions (www.themeetinghouse.com). Bruxy is also author of the bestselling book, The End of Religion and his latest book, reUnion, is an overview of "The Good News of Jesus for Seekers, Saints, and Sinners." Bruxy, his wife, Nina, and three daughters live in Hamilton, Ontario.

As daughter of missionary parents, award-winning author and journalist Jeanette Windle grew up in the rural villages, jungles, and mountains of Colombia, now guerrilla hot zones. In 1981, Jeanette graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Biblical Studies and Theology from Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alberta. In 1985, Jeanette and her husband Martin moved to Bolivia to work with a nondenominational Christian ministry organization. While her husband served as director, Jeanette worked with women and children at risk in varied regions of Bolivia. Her detailed research and writing is so realistic that it has prompted government agencies to question her to determine if she has received classified information. Currently based in Lancaster, PA, Jeanette has lived in six countries and traveled in more than thirty on five continents. Jeanette is editor of BCM World magazine, speaks and travels extensively both in the U.S. and internationally, and serves as consulting editor and mentor in developing writers from the U.S. and Canada to Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Spain, Croatia, Philippines and more. She is recipient of the 2012 AWSA (Advanced Writer Speaker Association) Beyond Me Award (Exemplifying a "You First" Life in a "Me First" World), as well as Focus on Fiction's 2005 Deserted Island Book Award (i.e. the reading material of choice if one were headed to a deserted island). Jeanette is also recipient of the South Florida Writers Association 2004 Celebrity Author's Award and 2002 Mabel Meadows Staats Award. She served for three years as VP of Publication for the South Florida Writers Association and president of Miami-Dade Christian Writers and is currently president of Lancaster Christian Writers.
