Tender Touch By Pamela Dasgupta Tender Touch is a book in which the author Pamela Dasgupta has narrated the story if a young girl Jennifer who goes through tremendous unbearable and traumatizing hardships in her life. She left her home for New York when she could not further cope with the constant sexual abuse from her stepfather. On her clueless quest to find a place to live in New York, she meets an elderly lady, Martha Jenkins, who offered her not only a shelter but also a family who cared for her and loved her dearly. She spent many unforgettable moments with them and also finds her love. However, this happiness lasted only until she realized that her life has brought back the similar anguish and pain that she dreaded as a young kid at her parents' house. This time it came in the form of physical and mental abuse and not sexual, through her own beloved husband. This story provides an inspiration to all the women who have once become or are dealing with such domestic violence. After reading this novel one realizes that it always pays to stand up and say 'no' to all those dreadful tortures. This book has opened up my eyes. I never thought that domestic violence could not only hurt one physically but can also leave a deep wound in one's heart which can never be healed. Also, sometimes in life we may meet people who treat us more dearly than our own family by accepting us with our flaws and weaknesses without aspiring to make any changes. This eye-opening novel tries to make one aware of the harsh consequences of prolonged domestic violence. Heartrending, emotional, and touching this is what describes this beautiful creation of the writer. ****Disclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary copy of Tender Touch by Pamel Dasgupta as a member of the Dorrance Publishing Book Review Team.
