Texts from Dad: New Testament
Nearly every single day of 2023, a text message was sent to my family and friends that explored deeper concepts related to The New Testament in the hope and desire that having additional insights and knowledge might help bring us closer to our Savior.

These texts built on the "Come Follow Me" lesson plans of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Each of these texts explored the meanings in the original Greek manuscripts, the cultural impacts, how different versions of the Biblical translations impacted the meanings and words used, and connected these discussions into personal stories and experiences.

The goal of this book is to bring these text messages together into a single volume, with an index, to help facilitate ongoing study and learning about the Savior, His mission, and how we can come to know Him better.

The messages are organized into blocks of text that were studied each week and then further divided into daily messages. While both the Easter and Christmas stories were discussed during the specific text sections, there were also dedicated Easter and Christmas sections of the book that were delivered at the correct time of year.

One of the most important aspects of the texts and what we studied in 2023 was the role of the Atonement and the process to become "at one" with our Savior. The themes of the Atonement, the Jewish festivals, redemption, and especially the parting of the veil of the temple are central to the texts in this book.
John 15:13-14 might be considered one of the central theme of the texts and the content of this book.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends..."

The Atonement is the single most important event that has ever occurred in this world. I tried to capture the different ways each New Testament author came to understand and then share their own experiences with the Atonement.
