Millennia ago, Newtonians fled their dying world. Most sailed on the colossal "Atlantis," a terrarium-encased spaceship mistaken by Earth as the Moon. A smaller, haughty faction, the Brenians, departed in a separate vessel, believing themselves superior. Now, Captain Rogers and his crew, lost after a wormhole jump, find themselves in the Brenians' galaxy.

A crash landing on a seemingly peaceful planet throws them into a desperate quest. They must awaken a sleeping princess from stasis in exchange for a vital starship component. However, their mission is complicated by Kirk's capture by the Brenians and his escape with the prince's betrothed.
