About the Author

Dyer E. Carroll is founder and president of Carroll Engineers, Inc., a consulting firm based in Andover, Massacusetts that soecializes in nondestructive testing, boiler and pressure vessel design, and forensic engineering. He also is a professor in the Fire Technology Program at Massachusetts Bay Community College and teaches the Engineering Inspectors' Training Program for the Lloyds Register Shipping Insurance Company. A Registered Professional Engineer and Licensed First Class Stationary Engineer in Massachusetts, Mr. Carroll holds commissions from the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors in seven states. Dyer E. Carroll, Jr. is vice president and radiation safety officer of Carroll Engineers, Inc. He holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University and has extensive experience as a consulting and forensic engineer.
