About the Author

Sally Lanyon (née Huber), a student leader at Ohio State, was surprised that her most lasting achievement was creating a big round ball out of chicken wire and papier-mâché, painting a cartoon face on it, and equipping it with shoulder harnesses so a cheerleader could run onto the field at the 1965 Homecoming game. This creation became Brutus Buckeye, Ohio State’s beloved mascot. Her next big surprise was taking 12 years of night and weekend writing classes in order to write “The Great American Novel,” but authoring The Autobiography of Brutus Buckeye, a whimsical adult picture book, instead. She now spends her time as a literacy volunteer and authoring The Brutus Blog.
