The Library of Doom is the setting for this series. In The Book That Ate My Brother, Jack requests the librarian’s help in rescuing his brother from a carnivorous book. Unfortunately, the story never resolves what happened to the family dog, which may have also been eaten. The Vampire Chapter takes readers through a short mystery involving two boys trying to uncover the truth behind library books that have been drained of their ink. The short chapters and large font make these books appealing to older, beginning readers. The stories could be used to introduce mystery or adventure-themed writing assignments. Glossary.
