About the Author

David L. Clark is a retired associate professor of anatomy at the Ohio State University State College of Medicine, where he worked for over forty years.

Nash N. Boutros is the current Chair of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.

Mario F. Mendez is the current Director of the Behavioral Neurology Program, and Professor of Neurology and Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at University of California, Los Angeles.

Description: Knowledge of brain-behavior relationships is essential in the practice of the clinical neurosciences, including psychiatry. This very accessible book provides this information in a very readable format. Written and edited by leaders in the field, this update is a very welcome addition to the neuropsychiatric literature.
Purpose: The purpose, according the editors, is "to convey the immense complexity of the neuronal circuitry that sub-serves our cognitive and emotional lives. At the same time we hope to present to the reader a simplified view of the complexity of the neuroanatomy that underlies certain behaviors." They note, "We will have accomplished our mission if we can convince the reader that the brain is an organ worthy of being the seat for the immensely complex function of behavior." The editors have produced a book that brilliantly surpasses this goal.
Audience: The intended audience includes psychiatrists, psychologists, and others in the mental health field. Psychiatry residents and fellows in geriatric psychiatry and in behavioral neurology/neuropsychiatry would also benefit from this book.
