The Business Battlefield: A Soldiers Journey
On the battlefield, trust, honour, values and standards are a matter of life and death. You stand by your "battle buddy" no matter what - and you can depend on your "battle buddy" to stand by you. That's how you survive. In business, failure usually doesn't lead to death. Honour is not a matter of survival. The stakes are lower, and a lower imperative comes into play. Winning or losing is primarily about money, and honour is a matter of choice. When it comes to the Business Battlefield, the rules are different - people are different - so how do you know whom you can trust? Nick Wilson is an ex-serviceman, entrepreneur and military transition consultant. He has navigated the gap between the military and the field of business, and lives to tell the tale. In this book, through his own story of PTSD, betrayal by those he trusted, resulting business failure and rising again to success, he teaches the lessons he wishes someone had taught him, right at the start. Whether or not you've served in the Armed Forces, The Business Battlefield - A Soldiers Journey is a compellingly good read.

About the Author

Nick Wilson is an ex-Serviceman who served 14 years in the British Army, including Operational Tours in Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Whilst not on Tour he assisted during the strikes of fire fighters, fuel tanker drivers and prison guards, and helped communities during the UK's worst floods.
An avid charity supporter and fundraiser, he has also arranged several large scale events to raise money, including a 1000 mile non-stop cycle ride from Esbjerg to Ranville in France for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day and a half marathon, including multi coalition armed forces, around Basrah airport in Iraq, whilst deployed on Operations, to name but two.
As an entrepreneur post-Discharge, he set up his own chauffeur company, at the same time working to support other ex-Military personnel in making their transition to "Civvie Street".
Having been finally "officially" diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder by Combat Stress in 2015, Nick has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the struggle veterans and their families face on a daily basis. Together with a friend he set up Oxfordshire's first locally-based PTSD support group: "First Step Forward", which held it's first meeting in July 2016.

Having personally experienced the adjustment to the harsh realities of business, he now works as a Military Transition Consultant, Life Coach and Speaker. As a Consultant he helps companies to understand how transferable military skills are into any industry, highlighting the skills possessed by military service leavers. As a Life Coach, he is assisting people to identify their own personal goals and gain life/work balance. Nick is also a qualified Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner and consults with companies over leadership and management development within the workplace, whilst also providing assistance to Service personnel and veterans with their transitions into civilian life and/or business.
Following his own deep beliefs, he is proud to demonstrate the values and standards of the Army: courage, discipline, respect, integrity, loyalty and selfless commitment.
In early February 2017, days prior to this book being sent for publishing, Nick signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of his company Wilsons Life and two days later, was presented with a Bronze Award under the Employment Recognition Scheme, for his work and continued commitment to supporting the Armed Forces.
