About the Author

Carlos S. Alvarado, PhD (1955-2021), was a research fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation and Adjunct Research Faculty at Sofia University. He was on the editorial boards of the Journal of Near-Death Studies, Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, Journal of Scientific Exploration, and was the Book Review Editor of the Journal of Parapsychology. The prolific work of Dr. Alvarado has centered on studies about the history of psychical research, and on survey research on out-of-body experiences and other psychic experiences in a career spanning from 1976 to 2021. He has published over 340 peer-reviewed articles in publications such as: Australian Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, History of Psychiatry, Journal of Psychology, Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, Journal of Parapsychology, Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, Journal of Scientific Exploration, and the Journal of the Society for Psychical Research. He was a recipient of the 2010 Parapsychological Association's Outstanding Contribution Award, and the 2017 Parapsychological Association's Outstanding Career Award.

Nancy L. Zingrone, PhD, is a Distinguished Core Part-Time Professor of Psychology in the John F. Kennedy School of Psychology and Social Sciences at National University (San Diego, California) and a Research Fellow at the Parapsychology Foundation (New York, New York). From 1988 to the present, her 40+ peer-reviewed articles, many of which were co-authored by Carlos S. Alvarado, have focused on psychological and psychical research, as well as the histories of psychiatry, psychology, and psychical research. These articles have appeared in such journals as Archivo Latinoamericano de Historia de la Psicología y Ciencias Afine, Australian Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, Ciencias de la Conducta, European Journal of Parapsychology, History of Psychiatry, Imagination, Cognition and Personality, Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease, Journal of Parapsychology, Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, Psychology of Consciousness: Theory, Research, and Practice, and the Revista Puertorriqueña de Psicología. She was awarded the 2015 Outstanding Contribution Award from the Parapsychological Association.

Sonali Bhatt Marwaha, PhD, is a research associate with the Laboratories for Fundamental Research, Palo Alto, CA and is the International Liaison for the Parapsychological Association in India. Her recent publications include The Star Gate Archives (4 volumes), compiled and co-edited with Dr. Edwin C. May. She has published several theoretical papers aimed at understanding the nature of informational psi. She was awarded the Parapsychological Association's 2022 Outstanding Contribution Award.
