The Chronicles of a Mortal in Arcadia: a fictionalized memoir in verse
This is a true story told through the lens of vivid imagination. In July of 2023 I arrived at the Château d'Orquevaux- a centuries old manor house nestled away in the countryside of north-eastern France. In a village with a population of well under 100 people, no businesses, no cafes, no shops- I felt like I was existing in an world outside our own. My first artist residency- I was full of nerves and excitement. My primary worry for two weeks was only what to create next. It was like a dream. In fact, on our first night, a painter named Erin smiled at a table of artists and said It feels like we're in heaven.
