The Clover Chapel (Jamison Valley Series #2) by Devney Perry

She took a dare and fell in love. Truth would have been the smarter choice.

After years of living under her father’s thumb, Emmeline is ready to break free. She’s abandoned her life as a New York socialite to follow her dream of becoming a kindergarten teacher in a small, wholesome town. Seeing the man that nearly broke her was absolutely not what she had hoped to find in Prescott, Montana.

Nick hasn’t seen his Emmy in nine years, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten a thing about the woman he loves. After just one blissful night as man and wife, he gave her up, sacrificing his own happiness to keep her safe—far away from him. But the moment she walks back into his lonely life is the moment he decides never to let her go again. He won’t waste his second chance. All he has to do is win back Emmeline’s heart, keep her safe from the shadows in his past and prove to her that taking a wager on him is a sure bet.

HEARTWARMING!!! I love everything Devney Perry writes and she has become one of my favorite authors. THE CLOVER CHAPEL is an emotional story with characters that pulled on my heartstrings. It has all the elements I love in a good story; engaging characters, a passionate story filled with suspense and a feisty female and an alpha male. I also love the small town setting filled with entertaining characters. Emmaline and Nick first meet in Las Vegas and they impulsively decide to get married after having a few too many drinks. When Nick leaves the following morning, without telling Emmaline, he breaks her heart. They meet again nine years later, when Emmaline moves and starts a new job as a teacher in the same town as Nick. Nick has never forgotten Emmaline and he knows he made a mistake when he left her nine years ago. He will not let this second opportunity slip by and he does everything in his power to convince Emmaline they should be together. I love how Nick never gives up on Emmaline. He is patient with Emmaline and willing to do whatever it takes to convince her she can trust him again. Even though Emmaline comes from a wealthy family, she is down to earth and wants to live a simple life free of people who are fake. I found it easy to like Emmaline and sympathize with her. Nick broke her heart and she is afraid to let down her guard and trust him again. I loved this heartwarming story. Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book vIa Cocktails and Books and Netgalley. The opinions expressed are my own.

This is the first book I've read in this series and the first book I've read from this author. I was completely blown away by the story this author has given her readers and based off this story alone, I look forward to reading more books from this author in the future. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. This was a romance story but it also had a bit of suspense and of course drama. This will make you laugh, smile and touch your heart. I can't wait to read the next book.

Emmeline and Nick definitely had an insta-love. They met in Vegas and got married the same night after a whirlwind romance. Emmy wakes up the next morning to find Nick is gone. Fast forward 9 years and Emmy moves to Prescott, Montana to start her new career as a school teacher. What she doesn't know is that Nick lives there and is a firefighter for the town. Emmy and Nick see each other for the first time in 9 years at a party being held at the farmhouse. Emmy is stunned and hightails it right out of there. Nick goes after her, but he doesn't get far in his attempt to explain. Emmy has a boyfriend in NYC, Logan, and has no interest in starting something again with Nick. Nick vows he is not going to let her go. So starts their new journey to find their way to each other. Emmy was kind of a doormat for her father and, somewhat for Logan. She allowed both of them to manipulate her into living a life she had not wanted. When she breaks free and gets her dream job in Montana, neither supported her. Both of them tried to force her to return home. It got old that a 31-year-old self-sufficient woman would allow that. Her forgiving nature was admirable, but at times unrealistic. When you've waited 9 years, it seem unrealistic that you wouldn't hold back on releasing your pent up rage at the person you feel wronged you. Claiming to need time didn't seem right to me. Nick was kind of clueless at how bad he damaged her. His vow to not let her go was interesting. The fact he did let her go without explanation for 9 years was glossed over. He felt he did it for her, but he never really gave a good reason. I liked how he stood strong and didn't waiver in his pursuit of her. Yes, Emmy was kind of stuck on the fact she thought he was going to leave. But his going out for a run when he needed time to cool off didn't strike me as a bad thing. Her attempt to make it into a nuclear event was childish to me. She put herself in danger and then wanted him to gloss over it. Her constant thinking that they needed to divorce so they could start over got so old. I wanted to hit her with something by the end of it. A piece of paper was not going to right a wrong. The fact it took so long for her to get that was a bit disappointing to me. I liked how Nick's family stepped up and was there for them at some critical times. Overall a good addition to this series. I liked how we still got glimpses into the other characters we got to know in the first book in this series.

This was so incredibly fantastic! Right from the start, I didn't want to put it down and needed to know what would happen next and that feeling stuck with me the entire time. I was so pulled into this wonderful, rich world and I loved it all. Nick and Emmy were amazing. I loved their story and them as people. It was fun and crazy and intense and emotional. I thought they had excellent character development and I loved learning their histories. I was filled with so much anticipation waiting for them to work things out and for certain details to unfold. They had obstacles in their way and drama happening but it created the best ride ever! It was just filled with so many great details and I honestly couldn't get enough. Emmy and Nick had a lot of ups and downs and I loved that build even though they could stress me out. Besides their wonderful story there were a few others in play and I loved those extra elements to really show the all the different characters personalities. There is drama and tension and this mystery element happening that had me guessing the entire time. I was hooked! There was a great cast of characters mixed in and I felt like I knew them and want to hang out with them. I was excited to get the updates on Jess and Gigi from the first book, The Coppersmith Farmhouse, as well as a few others. I loved the writing and the feelings it brought out of me, I was excited and mad and entertained – I could feel it all. The descriptions the details and were excellent. I love the picturesque setting the author created… I really need a log cabin in Montana! I love that there was so much healing and hope happening in the story as well as forgiveness. It was an amazing second chance romance. I was so excited the entire time I was reading an pretty much hid from my family so I could absorb every detail. I’m so excited for the next book, The Lucky Heart, I am in love with this series!

Story was great, kept your attention, but, too many bad words that were never really necessary. Also love scenes offensive. Too explicit. I will not read this author again.

The Clover Chapel by Devney Perry is the second book in the Jamison Valley series of interconnected standalones. This is Nick, the firefighter, and Emmeline, the kindergarten teacher's, story. A story of kismet, fate, written in the stars when after nine years apart following their one night, their wedding night, together Nick and Emmy reconnect in Jamison Valley of all places. Told in dual POV and alternating between the past and the present in a way that effortlessly flows from the page, this was an emotional clencher, for sure! Nick abandoned Emmy after their one wonderful night together in an effort to keep her safe from harm. He had a past that he didn't want coming after her or her daddy's money. It was a decision he has regretted ever since as she was his one. Emmeline is tired of the emotional abuse directed at her from her father and decides to take her trust money, get the education she wants and finds a job hiring Kindergarten teachers in nowhere Montana. It has been nine years but when she realizes this is where her disappearing husband Nick lives things get complicated and fast. The danger Nick was saving her from may still be an issue and when her home is broken into multiple times he alpha-male decides she needs to come stay with him. What better way for him to also try and win his wife back before she becomes his ex? Another amazing story - I can't wait to read more... Enjoy!

Audible Review: I loved both narrators for this book. Both Ava Erickson and Joe Arden did a fantastic job. I'm pretty picky when a female impersonates a male and vice versa and I have no complaints with these two. Story Review: I'm pretty much hooked on Devney Perry's Alpha Hero's. While second chance romances aren't my favorite, Nick's actions towards Emmeline when she came back into his life made this a good one. Nick pursued Emmeline like his life depended on it and that's what I needed to see after he let her go 9 years prior. I also liked how the author had these two work together on their issues and had little pushing away by Emmeline. I'm not a fan of pushing away. I enjoyed seeing Gigi and Jess again as well as the rest of the gang. Knowing that future books will involve all these people just has me more invested in the series. I'm really looking forward to the next one.

Be still my heart! Love and second chances, with suspense and humor. I couldn't put this book down. Excellent writing and it pulls you all in to where you don't want it to end. It is definitely a reread type of book. A must read!

I am super picky about second chance romance so I was a little hesitant to give this one a try but I'm so glad I did because I really loved it. Nick made a mistake years ago when he left Emmy asleep in bed after their wedding and walked away with nothing more than a note that said he was sorry. Years later when he sees Emmy again by chance, all those feelings are still there and this time he won't say goodbye to the woman he knows he's meant to be with. Nick was willing to do whatever he had to do to make Emmy his again. I loved the grovel, I loved the chemistry between these two, I loved the steamy scenes and I loved the drama and suspense. I'm really enjoying this series and I can't wait to read more!

Having recently read The Coppersmith Farmhouse, I was super excited to read the next instalment in this fantastic series. I really enjoyed the first book, and enjoyed book 2, just as much, if not more. This is a great second chance romance between Emmeline and Nick. There is a 9 year gap from their first time of meeting through to the present day, where fate causes them to stumble upon one another once again. Nick has never forgotten his Emmy, and although both are leading very different lives there are elements that neither of them have ever forgotten. Emmeline has moved on, but needs a fresh start from the fast pace of New York, and moves to become a new teacher in a new town in Montana, very different from the life she is used to. Nick is the Fire Chief in Prescott, where Emmy has moved too, and because of that he decides fate must be on his side, and there is no way he is letting her get away for a second time. Emmy on the other had has different ideas and decides it presents the perfect opportunity for closure once and for all so she can move on with her current boyfriend. This is a great story, with some great show of Alpha male characteristics, determination and of course plenty of love. It's a sweet and sexy story which a relative slow-burn. There are some brilliant parts of the story line which adds some drama and an element of suspense, with a fast paced twisty plot. As well as the main characters, I also loved all of the secondary characters which feature. With some very funny moments, but also the serious side, there is a little bit of everything. If you read the Coppersmith Farmhouse, you will be pleased to know there is plenty from Jess, Gigi, Maisy and all of the others that were in the first book!! I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see what Devney Perry brings us next. An author I will definitely be reading more from!!! 4.5/5 STARS

When you read a book by a debut author and love it, you are curious if the second one will bring you the same joy. I have to say that Devney Perry continued her writing journey successfully bringing us a beautiful second chance romance! One wild night nine years ago brought Nick and Emmeline together. The fate united them as husband and wife but one wrong choice separated them leaving them both broken hearted. Almost a decade later, Emmy is not the little girl under her father’s thumb anymore. She is ready for a change and the opportunity of becoming a kindergarten teacher brings her to a small town. Her dream job might bring her to Montana, but her dream man that got away is there to make her stay! Nick had to make the most difficult sacrifice nine years ago. He left the girl he loved from the first sight for her own safety. He has always regretted his choice and now that his Emmy is there, he won’t waste his second chance! They both have moved on with their lives but their fire is simmering all these years and ready to ignite once again! Nick is a perfect alpha hero with the ideal balance between protectiveness and romance. He respects and loves Emmy and if I had to say one word for him that would be devoted. He is generous, kind and affectionate. He does anything in his power to make Emmy trust him again and I loved his loyalty. Also, Nick might be a firefighter but the man is hot!!! Emmy is a woman smart and witty. She has wealth but she never flaunts it and I loved her helpfulness and her choices as a teacher. She is a loving person and very forgiving. I have to warn you because of their circumstances and their long separation, they both have moved on with different people and we see Emmy with a new partner. Nonetheless, don’t be afraid to give this book a chance. It’s clear that nobody measured up to each other and once they are brought together, there is no cheating and they are completely true to each other. This book has it all; great characters, cameos from our past favorite people, humor, romance, sexiness and of course the touch of suspense that this author loves! I read it in one sitting and the writing flows so easily. One book might be luck, but if the second one measures up that screams talent for me and Devney hit it out of the park with this story! The cover of this book has a clover on it and I have to say that it represents me perfectly; finding a new fantastic author is like finding the four leaf clover and with Devney Perry I sure feel like I have found it! I cannot wait for the next story!

I really loved and enjoyed this one. I was super hooked from the moment I started this book, something just drew me into these two characters. This was a great slow burn, very intriguing romance, that has everything you could want and more. I love both Nick and Emmy, I loved there personalities and I also loved there crazy family and the drama they brought into this story. I'm really liking this series and cant wait to see what else is going to happen in Jamison Valley.

It’s official. I’m a diehard fan of this author and The Clover Chapel solidified the deal. I absolutely love the way Ms. Perry writes. Her stories never get bogged down and there’s always something new right around the corner for her characters. And talking about characters, she gives them so much life. They each have their awesome qualities as well as their quirks that make them human. They come to life on the page and despite making some a-hole decisions, they’re always redeemable. Loved meeting Nick and Emmy and revisiting with Jess and Gigi. There were some new friends and family introduced as well and I’m curious to see where this series is going to go. If you haven’t tried this one yet, I dare you. No, I double dare you. Dual POV Some OW/OM drama Triggers - possibly

The Clover Chapel is the second book in the Jamison Valley series. Which is a second chance romance...of sorts. I have to say that I liked The Clover Chapel a lot more than the first book in the series. I loved the unique premise of a wild weekend in Vegas and a whirlwind night ending in marriage after which one of Nick runs off and Emmy doesn't hear from him again. There were plenty of twists and a few unexpected turns that kept me on my toes. I especially loved the characters. I liked the reappearance of characters from the first book, and getting to see a new side to Nick (than what we say in Book 1) and how much that one night changed both of their lives. I especially loved Emmy and her fire. There is an element of insta-love which I'm usually not a huge fan of, but I love how even though that one night they fell in love, Nick has a TON of groveling to do when he runs into Emmy again. She really makes him work for it, so it doesn't have so much of that insta-love feel as some books do. Overall, a super enjoyable read

Devney Perry does it again. I absolutely loved The Coppersmith Farm and I couldn't wait for the next book in this series. The Clover Chapel was just as good as her first book. Her writing is addictive, her characters strong and her story hooks you in and won't let you go. I love her brand of romantic suspense. If you want a book that will capture you with terrific writing, a great plot, lovable characters and a bit of a twist...this one is for you. I am anxiously awaiting her next book. A top favorite of 2017!
