It’s all fun and games…until someone’s heart is broken.

They’re not kids anymore, but Milo Caro is certain that Colton Mathews will only see her as his best friend’s little sister for the rest of their lives. After all, he made that clear the night before she left for college. But four years later, her brother is getting married and Colt’s the best man—and guess who is the best man’s last-minute date?

Milo vows to use the wedding to either claim the smoldering firefighter’s heart or douse this torch for good. When Max—her best friend from college, who may be carrying a torch of his own—crashes the party, they devise a plan to make Colt see what he’s missing. But after Colt catches on, he decides to cook up his own revenge.

Now it’s personal. Colt and Milo are at war, and between Max’s questionable acting methods, an unfortunate trip to jail, and a maniacal fiancée, what could possibly go right?

5 star This books pulls you right in. The story has a ton of laughs (like I almost wet my pants laughing), sadness, pain, betrayal, sneaky fun, crazy family, some smack downs, second chance, and heartbreak. This is Milo and Colton’s story. Milo has loved Colton forever but he does not love her…..Or does he.  This wedding weekend is all about trying to get the guy but ends up crazy.  She accidently beats up her brother, ends up semi-engaged to her best friend who might be gay, ends up in jail, and breaks up a wedding.  In the end really who will be standing?  Her, her brother, Colton, her best friend, her crazy grandmother….  Who really knows.  When the dust settles who will really be married?   This was the first book I read by this author but it will not be the last.    I recommend this story, and this author. Can’t wait to read the next story in this series!

Shut the front door. Oh my word, I love Rachel Van Dyken’s brand of humor. If you’ve read The Bet, The Wager, or any of her other romantic comedies you will want to grab this one. I had to move myself out to the living room after my hubby came to bed because I may have been laughing too loudly (okay, I was snorting). What a wonderful way to spend an evening. With a loveable, witty, freaking hilarious cast of characters. From Milo and Colton, to the funniest best friend ever to have graced the pages of a book, Max. Oh, and poor Jason. So much violence, but the really funny kind. Truly. Believe me. Oh, and if there is something Rachel knows how to write, it’s funny Grandmas. All I can say is poor Reid. If you like eating or drinking while you read – DON’T!! You will likely snort, giggle, and laugh out loud as the events unfold surrounding this wonderfully written romantic comedy. ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ Stars Colton as a BBF: ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ Hotness Level: ¿ ¿ ¿ Swoon Level: ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿

Received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.  Wow! This story was Outrageous. I have never laugh out loud so much while reading a romance story. There so much craziness all the way through this book the story just flew by. Loved it. I am sunk I am going to have to get more of Rachel Van Dykens' books.  Milo has just turned twenty one and she has been in love with her older brothers' best friend Colton since she was thirteen. She has been staying away to try and get over her feelings for Colton, since the summer after her high school graduation when he only thought of her as Jason's' sister. Colton, Milo and Jason did everything together as children, she was the princess in her castle and Colton slayed dragons to protect her. But that all stopped when she hit puberty.  So when she comes home for her brothers' wedding, wanting only to get a kiss from Colton and then she can put her feelings forever away and burn her diary all kinds of crazy happens. Her best friend Max comes acting like he is her boyfriend/ fiancé to try to force Colton to express his true feelings for Milo. And Max is one crazy guys it's all of his crazy hilarious ideas. But there is so many crazy friends and relatives it is quite the wedding celebration, it is all over the place. So what are you waiting for, buy this book you will love this Outrageous, Delightful Entertaining Romance story.

*Provided by Netgalley for honest review* There is nothing that I did not absolutely love about this book! This book falls right in line with the author’s “The Bet” series with its humor but, it’s even funnier. I wasn’t expecting it when I read the blurb but it was a welcome surprise. When you read the blurb you may think it’s a typical brother/sister’s best friend falling for sister/brother and while it starts out that way but, that doesn’t last long before the comedy kicks in and takes over. It heavy on the comedy and overall, it’s a bit light on the romance. The characters are awesome, well developed and have a personality all their own, it’s full of funny shenanigans that keep you wildly entertained and a sweet love that has grown over a couple decades. There were moments where all Colton did was speak and it got me hot! Milo and Colton are the perfect pair in every way

“I’d rather fight with you, bicker with you, every damn day of my life than having nothing at all. I’m selfish enough to want any piece of you – even if it’s the bad, the ugly, the ridiculous. So even if you hated me, I’d still die a happy man – because I’d still be on your mind.” The Consequence of Loving Colton follows the story of Colton and Milo. Milo has been in love with Colton for as long as she can remember. The problem you ask, well besides being her brother’s best friend, he’s only ever seen Milo as a little sister. Never for the woman that she is. Now, Milo is all grown up and has come home for her brother’s wedding. She has made a pact with herself that she will get through this weekend and not let Colton effect her….yeah, right, like that’s going to happen. The minute she sees him, everything comes rushing back. Little does Milo know that Colton does have feelings for her. He was just to scared to act on them or admit that he has them. No one could be prepared for how this weekend would play out: secrets, pretend boyfriend, kisses, declarations of love, people getting punched, and what would a wedding be without an over the top, in need of sex, Grandma. What could possibly go wrong?? Oh my gosh! I loved this book. I loved every single thing about it. My face hurts from laughing so much! I haven’t had a book make me laugh like this in such a long time, especially with lines like this: “I wasn’t one of those girls who got tiny hunger pangs when it was time to eat, then took a few sips of water, burped, wiped my mouth, and announced I was full. Hell, no. Carbs. Give. Me. Carbs. Give me protein. Give me chocolate and I’ll be your best friend.”  I knew from the very first page that I was going to love this book and I did. I was a goner. I was hooked. I could not put this book down. The Consequence of Loving Colton is one read that is not to be missed. It was a great romantic comedy. I laughed so much, it brought tears to my eyes. Not only was this book funny, but it also had just the right amount of steam and angst. The characters were so entertaining. I couldn’t get enough of them. You just never knew what was going to come out of their mouths next. And I have to say that Max and Grandma were hilarious. This was such a great book! Definitely one of the funniest that I’ve read so far this year. It is a great friends to lovers romantic comedy. The writing is fantastic and captivating. The story will keep you hooked until the very end and trust me, with this story, there is never a dull moment. This book will make you laugh, smile, swoon, shake your head and ultimately fall in love. *I received an ARC copy of this book, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

3.5 fun, enjoyable, entertaining, be-the-doughnut stars! I am a big fan of Rachel Van Dyken. I fell in love with her Ruin and Eagle Elite series. Those series have made me feel all kinds of emotions while reading them. When I read the synopsis for The Consequence of Loving Colton, I knew that it would not leave me emotionally drained. I was expecting a fun and light novel and, it's exactly what it was. Falling for your brother's best friend has never been this hilarious! Milo has been in love with Colton since she was thirteen. Colton always treated her like a little sister and, that's the last thing she wants. She loves him deeply, but when she tried to get close to him and reveal her feelings she was burned. Four years later, she's back for her brother's wedding and she knows that there is no running away from Colton. She will be spending every single moment with him. When Colton comes face-to-face with Milo, he can't deny that his feelings for her are strong and sincere. When Milo's best friend, Max, shows up as Milo's ''boyfriend'' Colton sees red. Milo and Max have the perfect plan to make Colton realize his girl won't be waiting forever. Will Colton fight for Milo or will he let another precious moment go by? TCoLC was very different from what I'm used to from Rachel Van Dyken. I think it's very similar to her Bet series. I have heard that those book are very funny. I really liked Milo and Colton, but I have to admit that they drove me nuts in many occasions!!! Their cat and mouse game was funny, but I wanted a bit more from them. I can't deny that their chemistry was good, but I felt like the moments that they shared together were spent fighting about silly things instead of revealing the way the felt about each other. This book was playing out like a movie while I was reading it. It made me think a bit of The Hangover ... lol!!! There is an event in this book that is a total fiasco!!! I could not stop laughing. There was a lot of LOL moments, but a few WTH moments as well. There were a few supporting characters that stole the show in this book. Max was my favorite one. He was seriously funny and I think that if Milo and Colton finally took a step forward with their relationship it's because of him. Milo's grandmother was all kinds of cray-cray!!! She's a wild one! lol!! The rest of the supporting characters all brought something fun to the story and it made me enjoy it even more. Overall, I was expecting a bit more of romance, but it still was an enjoyable reading escape. Max, Milo's best friend, his getting his book next. I'm looking forward to it. I really liked him in TCoLC. I'm sure there will be many hilarious moments in his book as well. I give The Consequence of Loving Colton, by Rachel Van Dyken, 3.5 fun, enjoyable, entertaining, be-the-doughnut stars!

This book was just plain fun. I can't remember a book that has had me in such constant hysterics as this one. Laughter is always good, and this one provided plenty of it. I really cannot wait for the next installment in the series. This one is highly recommended when you need something to make you smile. Milo has come home from college in order to attend her brother's wedding. Her life long crush, Colton, who is also her brother's best friend, is going to be part of the festivities. He crushed Milo's heart four years ago when she finally realized he'd never see her as anything other than a little sister. When Milo arrives home for the wedding, an unexpected kiss between the two leaves her crying, and she tries to justify her tears by saying that she hasn't ever cheated on a boyfriend before now. Enter Max, Milo's very best friend and now fake boyfriend.  Colton has always had feelings for Milo, inappropriate ones in his book. He believes Jason would hate him for pining over his little sister. Seeing Milo with Max brings out the cave man in Colton, but he is determined to do what is right for Milo. Misadventures galore begin when Max arrives and this wacky bunch tries to get ready for a wedding. We have not only Milo, Colton, and Max, but brother Jason, his very scary fiance Jayne, Milo's parents, and later on her old nemesis Jenna, Max's brother Reid, and Milo's grandmother, all bringing more chaos to the mix. Milo and Colton will finally have to decide what to do about their feelings for one another. Along with all the humor that abounds in this book, there are some sweet and tender moments. The characters are all great, and I am looking forward to seeing them in future books. The storyline kept my attention, made me laugh, and gave me a great evening of reading.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review. Milo is finishing up her degree at NYU. She comes home for the weekend for her older brother's wedding. The first person she sees is Colton, the boy next door that she's been in love with for as long as she can remember. The problem? He don't look past the fact that she's not a little girl anymore. Enter best friend Max to help change that. Hilarity ensues. I think the best way I can describe this book is a screwball comedy with a heavy dose of boy next door finally gets the girl next door. While not a heavy plot and no real conflict, this book is really good as long as you take it as such. It's one of those books where, if you have a family like mine, you can say "I can totally picture that happening if I was trying to put on a wedding". All of the characters and their interactions, especially Max and Grandma, are just hilarious. I recommend this book to anyone that just liked a cute book that will make you laugh. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This is hands down the funniest book that I have ever read! Rachel has written The Bet series and that is wonderful and funny. I didn't think she could ever top that and she has! The Consequences of Loving Colton is laugh out loud funny. Everything that happens to the characters and their chemistry with each other is great. You can't help but laugh and feel their pain. If it was a movie it would win Romantic Comedy of the Year!! I highly recommend this book and I wish that I could give it 10 stars. Great job Rachel!!!

Rachel Van Dyken is another of my favourite authors. I'm a part of her group on Facebook, Rachel's rockin readers. Rachel is always interacting with us readers and its a fun and friendly group to be a part of. We all also got a dedication in the front of this book. So to the book! Milo is super clumsy and has been in love with her brothers best friend, Colton, for forever. After being rejected by him at 16, after trying to kiss him, Milo has felt humiliated ever since. Years later, aged 21, Milo has to return home for the weekend for her brothers wedding and will have to face Colton. Milo wants Colton to see her as the woman she now is, Not the little tomboy he grew up with. So there is another kiss. This time it is initiated by Colton. Straight away he is apologising for it happening. Rather than have Colton think she is crying over the second rejection, She makes up having a boyfriend and being upset over cheating on him. Enter her best friend Max. Max goes along with her lie, Turning up for the weekend for the wedding. Secretly plotting to help Milo get her man. Colton tries to fight his secret feelings, Wanting to be loyal to his best friend, Milo's brother, Jason. This book had me crying tears of laughter, I was receiving some very strange looks from my husband when i would all of a sudden burst into laughter. The feelings and back and forth between Milo and Colton was adorable.  Add in the secondary characters, A gay/not gay best friend, A horny grandma and a psycho bride to be and it just makes this book so much more fun to read! Its full of crazy lies, such witty banter and outrageous and hilarious shenanigans. I read this book in a few hours. Once i started there was no way i could put it down. Eh...housework could be done another day. Bring on Max's book!

Wow--crack open this book and be prepared to hold on for a truly crazy ride from start to finish! The Consequences of Loving Colton is not a serious book. It's a slapstick rom-com from the first page to the last--if you're looking for something else, you'll be disappointed. But if you're just looking for an amusing way to escape for a couple of hours and know better than to take a big ol' swig of a drink while reading this one (trust me, put the book down before taking even a tiny sip--don't say I didn't warn you!), then it's the book for you. I had a lot of fun reading about Milo and Colt's exploits as they both bemoaned the fact that they couldn't be together--or so they thought. There were a whole lot of LOL moments along the way, and some of the secondary characters--Max especially--were a real riot. Toward the the quarter or so of the book it went even further off the rails than it had earlier on, which stretched the boundaries of credulity even further than they already had been--honestly, there isn't a whole lot to take seriously here, so as long as you go into it knowing that and not expecting total realism, you'll have fun. Though I think I could have done without about 80% of what Grandma added to the book...(gentle shudder while remembering a few choice moments) Okay, maybe 90%. Consequences definitely succeeded in taking my mind off of my troubles for a few hours of crazy escapism this weekend! Rating: 3 1/2 stars / B I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. It was hilarious, and not just parts, the entire book. I loved so many of the characters Milo, Colton, Jason, Max, Milo's grandma, and mother. I laughed so hard, I had tears in my eyes. A must read, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to read Max's story. I will be recommending this to everyone!! Thank you Rachel Van Dyken for such an awesome, hilarious read. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!!

3 Silly Star Review When one starts the review with "Let me say that this is one of my favorite authors" you know the book wasn't the reviewers favorite. Well in this case, it is true. I love Van Dyken's writing and she is one of my auto read authors but this book was just a little too goofy for my taste. Milo and Colton's story had all the makings of what I love in a story: a friends to lovers tale with the added angst of the heroine being the best friend's little sister. Normally it doesn't get better than that. I also love those funny moments thrown in to stories to help take the edge off but this book was just too much of a good thing. The goofiness never lets up and the love story I was so happy to read gets lost among the silly antics. Max was a hoot but by the end everyone, minus Milo's dad seemed to be off their rocker. I was seriously wondering if the entire thing was going to be a dream of some sort, but no. The steamy factor was pretty low too unless you count granny's repeat efforts to bed Max's brother. Adding to the frustration was that the HEA, while there, was just too much and didn't seem right. Readers looking for something light and a quick read will want to scoop this one up. Despite my complaints it is a well written book, it just wasn't what I was looking for. Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review

What can I say? There is so much I want to say...need to say...want to scream out! THIS BOOK IS BEYOND AWESOME! Really.... Where do I begin? What I love most about this book are all the lovely, special and and deep characters(MAX, how could you not love MAX-->I wish I could have a buddie like MAX) which are the main reason you just need to fall in love with this book. It's the craziest constellation of characters I have ever met in one single book(the Granny not to forget). The way they interact with each other, they talk to each other, how they are intertwined...And then there is the story the characters are creating within the course of action . After I finished this book, my first thought after smiling for a long long time was: "Wait, what kind of story is this? Right from the beginning it was pretty clear that this is going to end like this and that this is the way how the story is going to develop. " Normally this thought should made me shrink as it is something which you don't want to thing about after finishing a book. But you know what? With this book it really doesn't matter! You get what is described in the plot-nothing more, nothing less(in reference to the story). It's a story about a girl who doesn't want to be seen as a girl anymore, more as s woman who still is in love with the best friend of her brother. Since she was a kid herself.... It was lovely to see and hear the thoughts of the protagonists as the story is written in two different POV's which is awesome as you have the chance to get to see the story not only through Milo's eyes, also through Colton's. I am sure that some parts of the story could be "too positive" for some readers, but if they just enjoy what lays ahead of them without worrying about this part, they just need to LOVE IT, no matter what. I totally would describe this story as a "feel god-story" as it is the way how you feel after finishing the book. I started to read this book in the early morning, because I wasn't able to sleep anymore at all and finished it at midday without even getting to eat something or preaparing myself for the day(Shame on me? NO, not really :D). During these hours of pure joy, I couldn't stop myself and took so many screenshots that it now feels like my smartphone is exploding! I loved the movie references, the comparisons ("Seriusly. His smile was one that made girls want the condom to break."), the situations in which Tic Tac Toe or Ping Pong gets a total new meaning or the fact that finally I found somebody who has the same ability to destroy everything within reach by just relocating the bag hanging over my shoulder.... The fact that 4 single words "Skinny-dipping, wine, moonlight, swordplay" in combination with a castle can mean so much .... This book totally screams Rachel right from the very beginning! INFO: There is a second book announced including Max's story. > > > I have received this Book as an ARC from the Publisher < < < > > > In Exchange I promised an honest Review < < <

This book had me in stitches. Rachel Van Dyken is an amazing storyteller and this book is reminiscent of The Bet, the very first book of hers I read.  It is certainly different from her Elite series, another current favorite, which is organized crime based and more dramatic. It was really refreshing to read this book and relax. I love to laugh, and I was doing it constantly while reading this book.  In fact I can say I enjoyed the humor more than I enjoyed the romance. Of course I was rooting for Milo and Colton to get together and what better opportunity than Jason's wedding? (Jason is Milo's brother and Colton's best friend.) It seemed like it was never going to happen and Max, Milo's best friend was finally going to steal her away. Of course as it turned out, Colton wasn't as indifferent as Milo believed, but she didn't find out easily. I can not believe how clueless the majority of the characters in this book were.  It really seemed like the only one who knew what was going on was Grandma and she wasn't mentally all there! Everything was hilarious at first but as the plot got thicker and thicker, it got crazier, and I began to get tired of the antics.  It felt like Milo and Colton figuring out their feelings for one another took the backseat and the craziness that was Jason's wedding took over.  There were times when I wanted to shake Colton, Max, and Jason. Then there was poor Reid who may have had the worst time out of all of them.  The guys could be infuriating, but they had the best intentions. There were some great lines in this book.  Of course there was also great use of imagery.  It was very easy to picture everything going on in the book. This is a comedy of errors, plans gone awry, and misconceptions with a dash of romance. If you're in need of a mood lifter or a laugh, this book is a great choice!
