This book has action, intrigue, danger, secrets, and seduction! What more could you ask for? The complex web of secrets surrounding King George IV and Queen Caroline draws our characters into the debacle on both sides. Justin, the Duke of Dinnisfree, is the king's spy. Arabella is a woman from a poor, but respectable family, trying to make a living to save her parents. She is unwittingly drawn into the intrigue and keeps getting deeper and deeper in trouble. Just when she gives up hope, she meets Justin. Despite all signs to the contrary, Justin trusts Arabella and has to find a way to lower his defenses enough to help her, yet still protect the king. I liked the intrigue and mystery that kept me guessing, the exploits of Arabella and the dashing duke, and the love story that brought an independent woman and a hard-hearted spy together.

Spy and mystery makes for a fascinating read! Seemed a bit slow at first but picked up as the tale went on. Hard to believe an adopted child wouldnt want to visit the real parent. Youll have to read it to see what I mean!

Arabella Carthright is desperate. With her father in a wheelchair and her mother in a respectable home for mental illness, the family financial situation rests in her hands. Dealt a severe blow, she doesn't know how she'll keep the roof over her and her father's head and her mother from being transferred to Bedlam until a kind gesture from a veritable stranger provides her with a rather undesirable but necessary solution to her problems. Unfortunately, not all is as straightforward as it seems but she has no choice but to see it through. As the Duke of Dinnisfree, Justin Holleman has the power and privilege that being one of the highest ranking members of the aristocracy can afford him but more than that, he also has the king's ear. As his most trusted confidant, Justin also has secrets, ones that he will die to protect as he also secretly fights to protect King and Country. But someone is out to reveal those secrets and uses Arabella to do it. Justin is suspicious and knows he should keep her at arms length but cannot deny his attraction to her or hers for him. He now questions many things in his life, the most important being will he sacrifice a once in a lifetime love for the duty he's been sworn to uphold. I loved this story and wish I could do 4.5 stars. I would've given it 5 stars but felt that a few scenes could've been expanded on just a tad bit to build the intrigue. The attraction between the H/h is believable as is the situation all the characters find themselves in. There was a twist I did not see coming but very plausible in light of the political backdrop of the story. Ms. Johnstone is a writer who never disappoints and is one of my favorite go-to authors. . I received an ARC of this novel for an honest review.

The Dangerous Duke Of Dinnisfree by Julie Johnstone is a fabulous read. This book is well written. Arabella and Justin's story is full of lovable characters, action, drama and spice. Ms Johnstone is quickly becoming one of my favorites in the historical romance section and I look forward to reading more from this talented author. The Dangerous Duke of Dinnisfree is book 5 in the A Whisper Of Scandal series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I was provided with a copy of The Dangerous Duke of Dinnisfree in exchange for an honest review and I loved it! I can honestly say that it had me enthralled and I didn’t want to put it down! This story begins with a woman named Arabella trying to figure out how she is going to pay for her mother’s hospitalization. Her mother becomes mentally ill after the loss of Daniel, her biological son. After placement into the medical home, the warden begins to threaten Arabella that she will transfer her mother to a terrible facility if her payments are not made by the following Monday. With Arabella struggling to make ends meet, her seamstress work for a very fortunate woman will have to be her saving grace. With finding out that Lady Cunnyngham is not pleased at all by her work, even though it is exactly what she ordered, so she throws a tantrum that has absolutely nothing to do with Arabella. After being forced to leave the woman’s bedchamber with the dresses and her pride diminished, she is given an ultimatum by a man who isn’t who he appears to be. With so many things spiraling down on Arabella, she is desperate to get the money for her mother as well as feed her and her father. This new character named Jude gives her hope when he tells her about a job that involves seducing a man at the local brothel. Arabella, being very desperate must decide what she holds most dear and what she is willing to sacrifice in the name of family. Is there any hope left? My favorite characters are Arabella, Jude and Justin. Arabella is such a wonderful character and her bravery is inspirational. She is pure of heart and the love that she has for her family, the only family that she has ever known, is beautiful and truly touching. After her father’s illness and her mother being placed into the hospital, she never gives up hope. Her continuance for taking care of both of them is astounding and it really captivated my attention. Jude is just so unpredictable! He is a favorite character of mine because his presence and significance in this story did take me by complete surprise. He is cunning, friendly, affectionate and hospitable—until her plans start unraveling before him. And then, there is Justin. He is the one person who really made the story fascinating! As the king’s spy, he has several skills sets that seem to all fail him upon meeting Arabella. His constant need to stay cold and numb to emotion becomes quite a challenge in which no woman has ever been able to hold over him. This feat makes him more curious, but he is leery of exposing too much for fear of his trust being misguided. Can he really trust Arabella, when everyone around him seems to have an ulterior motive? One of the most prevalent thoughts troubling him finally presents itself, who should he really be holding his allegiance to—the King or the Queen? In my overall opinion, I would highly recommend this fifth installment of A Whisper of Scandal series to anyone who enjoys historical romance. This is such a beautiful story and it held my interest throughout the entire read. I love reading about the historical context, which is credible. The originality of the story is wonderful and fascinating as is the creativity and character development. Not only are the characters well developed, but the author does a superb job of accurately linking everyone to each other during the story. I found that the element of mystery really pulled me in as well. I was so impressed by this author’s writing style a

Julie Johnstone has once again created one of those awesome historical romance stories that is incredibly hard to set down. The Dangerous Duke of Dinnisfree is full of danger, drama, intrigue, secrets, spies, romance, with large dose of royal scandal. What more could a girl ask for in a story. I can't think of a thing except a few more hours in the day so that I could have read this book even faster. Arabella Carthright is a sweet, kind hearted young lady with a plate full of problems. Her father has medical issues, her mother has had a break down and is in an expensive institution, and Arabella needs an income. This poor young lady has her hands full and is in desperate need of helping hand and maybe a friend to hear her troubles. I found an instant bond with Arabella. I instantly admired her for her courage and strength to face what she think she has to do to save her parents. Justin Holleman, the Duke of Dinnisfree is a handsome playboy with a dangerous career and strong alliances that he must protect. Justin sets out to find answers for the King and ends up finding more questions, a couple of HUGE secrets, and a whole lot of danger. When Justin's mission puts him in the same path as Arabella things change. Justin has never felt the feelings that surface when he is with Arabella. I enjoyed watching these two discover each other and work together reveal secrets that could cause a huge impact to many. Justin won my heart over when he went all out to help Arabella with a few major problems. He just might be the Knight she's needs riding to her rescue. I loved that he didn't even pause when he discovers he just might be able to help Arabella with one of her huge problems. I loved that he rode in, cleaned up the trash, and started to make things better. Overall this is one awesome romance story with sweet moments, a few breath taking moments of dangers, hidden secrets that are slowly revealed, and a possible royal scandal. Julie Johnstone has written creative characters with the perfect mix charm, loyalty, chemistry, and bravery to make this storyline completely captivating. Ms. Johnstone grabbed my attention on page one and kept me completely engaged all the way to the last page. This is part of the Whisper of Scandal series but will stand alone just fine. So don't worry if you haven't read the previous awesome books in this series. You will be fine to start here and then go grab up the rest of the series so that you may devour those as well. I was given the opportunity to read this great story so that I may share my thoughts with you. As always it has been my great pleasure to share my thoughts with you on The Dangerous Duke of Dinnisfree.

The Dangerous Duke of Dinnisfree by Julie Johnstone A Whisper of Scandal Series Book Five Arabella Carthright is doing all she can for her family. She has work to pay for her mother's care in the mental hospital and care for her disabled father. When things take a turn for the worst...she must decide how far she'll give of herself for her family. Justin Holleman, the Duke of Dinnisfree is much more than just a duke. He is on a mission and as always, the mission is his only focus. The innocent beauty he encounters cannot have him swaying from that mission. And thanks to being raised by a cold-hearted man, he can refrain. Can't he? The couple from book three, Dancing with the Devil, are in this book as well. This had a great storyline and steady pace. **Sexual Content **Received from author for an honest review

London - 1820 Miss Arabella Carthright works as a seamstress. Although she was adopted, her parents have always shown her much love. Sadly, her mother is in a mental hospital and her father is confined to a wheelchair following a stroke. Arabella is doing all she can to try and make enough money to provide care for her mother and cover someone to be with her father while she is working, in addition to paying for their food and rent. She has just made four dresses for Lady Conyngham, rumored to be the mistress of King George IV, a.k.a., Prinny. When Arabella arrives with the dresses, the woman is throwing a temper tantrum and haughtily tells Arabella that the dresses arenot what she wants and refuses to pay for them. In anger, she also kicks a beautiful jewelry box encrusted with expensive jewels across the room demanding that someone remove it from her sight. A man who was visiting the Lady encourages Arabella to take the box and sell it. He says he fells sorry for her and she can get some money if she sells it. Desperate for money, she agrees. A little background on this story. Queen Caroline is seeking a divorce from Prinny and has spies watching him to prove adultery. However, Prinny is a man who enjoys his drink and has stupidly sent love letters to Lady Conyngham who is holding them to use as blackmail. Prinny’s trusty friend, Justin, the Duke of Dinnisfree, has been tasked with getting the letters back. Oh, but others know about the letters and the race is on to see who can get them. It turns out that they have been hidden in the bottom of the jewelry box and it is known that Arabella has it. Without giving away any spoilers, let me add that we have innocent Arabella desperately in need of money to support her parents and Justin intent on getting those letters returned to Prinny. The story is sweet, sexy, suspenseful and one you do not want to miss. Once again, the author, Julie Johnstone, has written a well-researched novel with a tremendous plot. Enjoy!

Once again I am blown away by Julie Johnstone and her innate ability to suck the reader in to her world and never let go! In the latest A WHISPER OF SCANDAL NOVEL, THE DANGEROUS DUKE OF DINNISFREE, we have the duke, Justin Holleman, who has been in service to the crown for some time now. His oath to protect the crown above all else keeps him focused, and his complacency in all other areas of his life, leaves him unable to form relationships beyond the surface. Now, the Prince Regent has given Justin the task of retrieving love letters that Prinny sent to his mistress, which if were made public, would cause trouble for the prince's game of divorcing his wife. His loyalty to his prince comes at a cost. Miss Arabella Carthright is frantic over her inability to pay for her mother's stay at the Stanhope Home for the Mentally Impaired. The young miss spends her time crafting gowns for the ton. Even though things are grim for Arabella, the gowns she has made for the wealthy Lady Conyngham should render enough coin for the home. Unfortunately when Arabella arrives, Lady Conyngham is in a tizzy over something and takes her bad mood out on the seamstress. Lady Conyngham refuses the gowns and furthermore promises to tell Arabella's boss about the issue, which will undoubtedly leave Arabella without a job. Not only is Arabella's mother in the home, but her father is recovering from a stroke and cannot help in the day to day either. Everything is on poo Arabella's shoulders. When Arabella exits Lady Conyngham's rooms, she is met by a mysterious man who offers to help her gain coin. Desperation makes Arabella do things she would never have though possible before, thus embroiling her in danger as well as trouble. When Justin meets Miss Carthright feelings emerge that he tries to hide deep down, but her tenacity and her beauty cause his emotions to rise for this troubled woman. The more involved the duke and the miss become, the more dangerous and exciting things morph into and the emotions that rise between Justin and Arabella could lead to demise or ecstasy. Which will actually overrule? THE DANGEROUS DUKE OF DINNISFREE is a fast-paced, well written tale of intrigue as well as romance. Ms. Johnstone is so savvy at merging the two that she has earned a top spot on my favorite author list. I feel Arabella's sorrow and desperation, her need to make sure her family survives. Justin's past has so much to do with his present stance on life, but it is so fascinating to watch his progression from the seemingly cold man of duty, to a man who would do anything for the woman he ultimately loves. Two thumbs up for this fifth tale in A WHISPER OF SCANDAL series by the very talented Julie Johnstone.
