The Disappearing Client (Spirelli Paranormal Investigations, #1) by Kate Baray

NOVELETTE. Jack Spirelli, paranormal investigator, public debunker of paranormal frauds, and private fixer for the magic-using community has opened his doors.

Jack's in a crunch. Since he went pseudo-public with Spirelli Paranormal Investigations, his business has sky-rocketed. Debunking the scum who prey on vulnerable targets makes up half his business now. And the rest of his time? Jack's on speed dial with the Texas Lycan Pack, the Inter-Pack Policing Cooperative gives him an occasional ring, and anything that goes bump in the night might just call him with a job.
He needs an assistant, another investigator, and some additional muscle, but maybe the dragon who just walked in and applied will do for now.
Note: This is a complete, standalone novelette of approximately 85 print pages.

A good book for you to read and enjoy a good laugh. Can't wait to see what they do next and what kind of trouble they get into.

This was my first Jack Spirelli story. It was 56 pages on my Nook, but was a complete story. It does let me know that I liked Jack and will enjoy reading more of his paranormal investigative adventures! The author writes well. She is clever, funny, thoughtful and creative. I am not usually inspired to read such a short story, (especially since so may are cliffhangers, this wasn't), but am glad I read this one. It has enough meat to it to make it flushed out and complete. It was fun and I kept reading until I finished. I didn't want to put it down! Thanks for this free read! jS

A fun urban-fantasy about a junk-collecting P.I. and his dragon.

The first book in the Spirelli Paranormal Investigations series is a lot of fun. The characters are engaging, and the fictional world is well-developed. I like Baray's take on dragons, as well as the fact that there is zero romance between the two protagonists. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. Recommended to fans of Jenn Stark, Annie Bellet, and Lindsey Buroker. -- lyradora
