The Dragon and the Nightingale, Volume One

Mara was born with a voice that could bend the will of men-a Siren's gift, both wondrous and deadly. Once hunted to the edge of extinction, her kind now exists only in whispers and forgotten myths. Forced to live within the shadows of men who would seek to use her power for their own selfish gains, the Siren has nearly forgotten she has a voice of her own-a bird unfamiliar with the tune of her own song.

What happens then, when gilded bars are melted away, and she's exposed to the sun for the first time in years? Haunted by the horrors of her past and bound to the schemes of a man known only as the Scarlet Dragon-an infamous criminal whose reputation is as terrifying as it is legendary-Mara must decide what she is willing to become in order to reclaim her voice.

Is she a victim of the world's cruelty? Or something far more dangerous?

The Dragon and the Nightingale is a dark, modern fantasy about reclaiming power, breaking free, and finding strength in the song no one can silence.

About the Author

Miranda Poteet grew up in the theatre. Ever since she stepped on stage, she became fascinated by the idea of assuming another identity, of becoming someone else. As she grew older, Miranda learned that she enjoyed creating those characters herself even more. She believes writing allows people to understand the world and those who inhabit it. She craves to put herself in as many shoes as possible, to walk all paths, so that she can connect with as many people as possible. Miranda also values complex characters that force us to reflect on the darkest parts of ourselves and considers writing an incredible outlet that's helped her to convey emotions and ideas that she otherwise struggles to communicate in person.
