The Earl's Inconvenient Wife by Ruth Ann Nordin Two people at the same ball. Both are spouse hunting. Lord Roderick, The Earl of Weston needs a Lady Roderick to give him an heir. Seems his brother had the nerve to fall off his horse and die before getting the job done. Nathaniel is not anxious to be married but he's found a lady who will do, and he likes her father. But how easily the plans on one man can fall by the wayside when he tries to be a gentleman and stop someone from ruination. Claire Lowell is in her first Season. Unlike her sister Lilly who loves all the hoopla, Claire ends up feeling closed in when she's in crowds. She found herself a gentleman tonight that she could see herself with, only he was called away suddenly. As she feels faint she heads to the veranda...if only she could have taken someone with her outside. An innocent escape for a breath of fresh air ends up with Claire married a week later, to a man who hates her and only sees her as someone who trapped him into marriage. Can two people who don't want to be together and don't trust each other ever end up with a truce? And how can the truth be heard when Nate has turned a deaf ear to Claire's pleas? Once again Ruth comes through with a great story with humor and adventure and characters with personalities that make them real. Some you want to hug while others could use a good slap. I am looking forward to other books she'll write in this period to see how the other characters can get their own happy endings. **Sexual situations within marriage.

As for the sex scene...yes, people have least they were married! If you don't like it skim over it. But really this is a romance!

This book was kind of blah. Not bad, but not great either. I read a lot ofhistoricals and this one will fade from mind soon. I will admit to thinking the cover is classy though, which actually tipped me over the edge when deciding to buy.

There was a weird flow to the whole piece and i feel like the dialogue was forced. It definitely was not an engrossing book though the plot was decent.

I really loved this book! I've read some of Ruth Ann Nordin's western romances, but this was her first Regency, and it was a VERY entertaining read. I had trouble putting this one down. It was nicely paced throughout the story, not a dull moment anywhere. I can't wait for the next in the series to come out!

I have read all of Ruths books and this one is very good.....i wish there was more to it. Like the nebreaska series....maybe mister robinson finds love somewhere or even lord clement.

This is a very good story for the time period. Over reactions and plotting abound. Lord Roderick is a difficult character to like but keep in mind his world was entirely made up of political and military stuff. He's all business and practicality. He never expected to be earl. He's out of his depth.

Having read and enjoyed other romances by Ruth Ann Nordin, I thought that I'd give her Regency romance a try. I was not disappointed. The storyline was very good, and the characters interesting. Hopefully, Ms Nordin will write more with Lord Clement and Mister Robinson as the main character.

A few good scenes; i.e., start of story, exploits with Mr. Robinson, but it ends there! Slow moving, not much of a plot, & had to roll my eyes over the excessive usage of, "rolled (his/her) eyes." Was this story edited?

This book was kind of blah. Not bad, but not great either. I read a lot of historical novels and this one was a bit farfetched in the way people of different stations was portrait. The cover is classy though, which actually made think this might be a really good book, but it was just average like all the other ones with bad covers. The flow was a bit off for the whole piece and the dialogue felt forced. It definitely was not an engrossing book.

This one was okay. It didnt leave me wanting more from this author although i would read her again. I didnt like all the rolling eyes...there are other ways to describe exasperation than to constantly have people roll thier eyes. Good storyline, but the author didnt take enough time to let you get into the characters. Moved minute he didnt like her and the next he felt bad for being too hard on her. However, not bad.

It was an ok story. It was a little slow and I didn't really feel like I was in the 1900s. It seemed a little redundant, but the story was pleasant. Quick light read.

I also was excited for this book to come out,and was not disappointed. I hope there are sequels coming, with follow-ups and some continuation with some of the supporting characters and thier futures.

A typical ridiculous misunderstanding leads to them disliking one anither. Then general lack of logical thinking prevents them from being reasonable. On top of that the man appears to be about 23, and a virgin. Not very sexy. The woman is daft, frightened, dimwit.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS STORY!! Unlike most romance stories, when a misunderstanding or lack of communication last through 3/4 of the story, not with this one. Yes, there were bumps in the road, but most were resolved quickly. There are some funny moments too and the romance builds slowly. The lovemaking is within marriage, full of passion, somewhat descriptive, but not vulgar. What I enjoyed about the lovemaking, was the H wasn't that experienced, and relied on a book. Not the normal romance where the H has had more partners than he has fingers and toes. If you're looking for a book with a lot of action, this isn't it. This is more of a story how our H/h discovered HEA. I want to know what happens to Perry! Hopefully there will be a story about their friend. I am not going into the premise of the book, because it has been explained. But, I do recommend this Regency Romance. (ljb)

Simply put.. very ehhh. Nothing exciting happens in this book. Besdes it being typical, theres no real climax to the plot.. i kept waiting for this "ah-ha!" Moment that never came. Took me days to finish, and only finished because i never give up on a book- no matter how painfully dull.

This story was poorly written style wise. It felt like a preteen melodrama with an overly written sex scene. It seemed like she didnt know how to describe it passionately, i would say The juvenile attitudes of the characters were not fitting to the time frame. Nordin writes nice stories for the western romance scene but more research is needed if she really wants to break into the regency genre of romance novels. I actually got a headache trying to read through the book. I only finished it because ive never not finished a book. But i wont be longing to read it again like i would a story by j deveraux or j garwood. This was just, ok.

Ruth Ann Nordin needs to take a few writing classes. The book could have been so much better had she took the time to remove all of the 'She rolled her eyes, He rolled his eyes.' Those phrases appeared so many times that they got in the way of the reading. Also, the word "strode" was used an inordinate amount of time. I was planning on getting a few more of her books but I do not want to waste my money and time.

The Earl literally falls for his wife in this offbeat period romance. I enjoyed the glimpse of nerve we got into the women of the time. You mean they weren't all two dimensional? And the slow progression of the relationship between the Earl and his wife, as I ( the reader ) continued to cheer them on in the background.

It was good but a bit slow and the dialogue not very engaging but it is free so pretty good length and decent story
