The Fateful Tear: 'a fable of sorts'
A beautiful sprite lives in the waters separating the two kingdoms. The fierce warfare between them concerns her, not one bit. Until bitter tears begin to cloud the crystal waters where she abides. She appeals to the god in the mountains, who will deny her nothing. Each tear that reaches the river then becomes a pearl of great luster and beauty.
From this flows the undoing of the beautiful sprite, and the confounding of the great king and his struggle to bring peace to the two kingdoms. The daughter of the king is cruelly assaulted and left with child. A fateful decision follows, for the sake of peace. But one single tear, of all the many that fall, brings dire consequences. A single tear from the eye of the beautiful princess, the daughter of the great king.
Warfare continues, unrelenting. For the beautiful princess, the cycle comes full circle. Love for her child grows slowly within her, guiding her through the dark labyrinth of her violation. She takes up the search for peace, solitary, but unbowed.
Yet, in the end, it may be the earth, alone, able to gather up the sorrows of the two kingdoms and hold for them, in legacy, the treasure of their dearly bought wisdom.
