About the Author

Stephen Butler holds a PhD in German Studies from the University of Manchester. He specializes in comparative literature, in particular Franco–German cultural relations in the nineteenth century, and also has an interest in the translation of English literature into French. He is currently working on a study of Amédée Pichot’s French translation of Byron’s Manfred.
