The Future of God: An Academic Perspective
This book reviews the three Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity) to determine how humankind will accommodate God in the future. While there are many publications about the future of God or the future of religion, they tend to reflect a specific academic field, such as theology or sociology. This book reviews the future of God reflected in four primary academic fields, including theology (dealing directly with God and religion), sociology (addressing how societies evolved with God and religion), biology (dealing with the scientific evidence of the existence of God), and physics (addressing God's intelligent design of the universe). Then the book analyzes each field's future projections for God in order to determine the most likely future. In the end, the book discusses a possible future religion based on the academic review of the future of God.

What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

“This book examines the religious causes of conflict on a macro-level, proposes a ‘look ahead’ at the future of religion, and even offers a new branch for the religiously non-affiliated. As a pastor, it is important to read books that challenge me to engage in further study and bring something new to the table. This book did that. This is a book that I would recommend.”

—Matthew Erikson, pastor

“I was engaged and challenged by Schwalbe’s work. This book is well-written and exemplifies academic excellence. I agree with much of the investigation into the current reality of God and the Church today. It led me to greater reflection and articulation of my own thoughts and understandings.”

—Dave Johnson, pastor
