About the Author

Myia Ellington spent the early years of her life in Cleveland's Rainbow Terrence Projects, where danger was more common than the ice cream truck. Thankfully, her days of running from fights, dope dealers and dogs turned out to be the perfect training for a girl who would go on to medal twice at the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Junior Olympics. Going from the project kid that wasn't expected to make it to a first-generation college graduate from Tennessee State University, Myia knows well how choices can affect one's adulthood.
