In this International Award Wining Novel, terrible things are happening in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma. A black teen and his white girl friend have disappeared. After an altercation with white ruffians, a Choctaw Indian turns up missing as well. It's not a good time for a Jewish boy from Boston to spend time in this place where it seems minorities are suddenly unwelcome.

Sheriff Burl Hansen has his hands full even before fate forces him to bond with the boy from Boston. Hansen, though, will not heed the mystical warnings of a Choctaw holy man until it's too late to save citizens from the terror of good intentions gone awry.

In a Godly community where honorable men have strayed, only a force beyond human comprehension can intervene from The Hiding Place of Thunder.

Remer captures more than a suspenseful storyline in The Hiding Place of Thunder. There is the typical sustained action, points of suspense, moments of anticipation, and hidden reader knowledge. But there is so much more. This is one of those books that one might pick from the store shelves for its enticing title and cover, thinking a couple of afternoons in the lazy chair to relax with. Not so. You'llbe back at the bookstore looking for more titles by Keith Remer by the next morning. Thunder is captivating, true to life, historical, human, thrilling, and powerful. The reader's emotions are sent through every quarter waiting for the unexpected ending. It's more than a suspense. It's a human story carried along by suspense. The true story lies in the minds and hearts of the characters, not the action which, in itself, would be enough to keep it on the reader's "best read" list.

I heard about this book during a recent visit to Oklahoma City. Although I don't normally read much fiction, I picked up the book and thoroughly enjoyed it. Read it over Labor Day weekend. It is a true page turner. I won't get into the story, but what I really enjoyed is the way Keith Remer develops his characters and lets you into their psyches. The story also takes some interesting and unexpected turns. Take a chance on this book. You'll be glad you did.

In The Hiding Place Of Thunder, the story unfolds in a rural southeastern Oklahoma town where ordinary people and ordinary life is the norm. Everyone knows everyone, but as it turns out they knew very little about each other. A horrific chain of events keeps you on edge, every page of the way. Fascinating and exciting with colorfull characters. I'm looking forward to the next story! Craig Countryman Albany, New York

Truly one of the best fictional books I have ever read. Keith Remer is one of the most fascinating, creative & talented authors today. In his latest novel The Hiding Place of Thunder he delivers yet another one of his intense and suspenseful pieces of work. I casually and leisurely started reading this book but soon found myself so wrapped up and captivated in it that I had to put everything on hold till I finished it! I just couldn't put it down! In this dramatic and intriguing story, family man and sheriff Burl Hansen is about to discover that things in Pushmataha County aren't as they appear to be. He will find himself on a dangerous journey that will eventually uncover a tangling web of deceit, crime, gruesome brutality, murder, racism, and even the spirits play a part, as one shocking event after another continues to unfold in this what seemingly perfectly normal town. You will definitely be kept on the edge and surprised to see the turn of events as you try to put together the puzzling pieces of this twisting and adventurous story. A shocker and must to read!! I'm not a huge fiction reader. Most fiction I've read comes across to me as superficial and just plain lame. But I have a few favorite authors - Koontz, Cornwell...and Keith Remer! Remer has an extraordinary talent for escorting a reader into the minds and lives of his characters allowing one to "live" the story. His books always leave me waiting for the next one to be published! Please keep them coming! Linda Geier Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
