About the Author

Lucy Beam (Hoffman) is the middle of five children. Her father was a Lutheran minister and her mother a high school English teacher who morphed into a technical writer later in her career. Beam dropped out of high school when she was 17, had two children (while married to her first husband). After their separation and divorce, she lived on the poverty scale for eight years. She met her current and last husband at the age of 27, married, and birthed a third son. She assisted her husband in the start-up of a small textile business in South Carolina.

After 9/11, at the age of 47, she returned to college. From there, she graduated with a History Major from Clemson University, and obtained her Master's 2012. She taught history at the college level for seven years.

She returned to the business world in 2017 and found that writing helped save what was left of her sanity. She resides in Greenville, SC. Beam loves red wine.

You can reach her at TheMiddleofFive@gmail.com.
