About the Author

Karen Márquez Morales was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona and still happily resides there with her husband of thirty years, Tom, and son, Marcus.

Karen was a second grade teacher for thirty years before retiring and then followed her dream of becoming a children’s author. She graduated from Phoenix College and Arizona State University. She earned her Associate’s degree in Journalism and her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees, plus sixty additional hours in Elementary and Bilingual Education, with a minor in Spanish.

She is a member of the Academy of American Poets and the West Valley Writers.

She loved teaching her students about endangered animals so they would be aware of the problem and perhaps, one day, be part of a solution.

Karen’s love of animals parallels her love of children. She feels that they are both pure-hearted.
