I laughed, cried, and laughed till I cried as I read these accounts of Tiffany Haddish's life. What an amazing story she it! She lays all of these hurtful stories out but recounts them in such a witty manner. Tiffany Haddish is not only a master storyteller, but she is a survivor and an inspiration to those who are hindered by the heartache and pain life throws at them.

She was awesome in girls trip, heard her interviews, and I had to read her story. I could not stop reading. It's a good thing I was stuck in the house because of the snow. So much I can relate to. Tiffany thanks for once again making me laugh, sorry you had to shed so many tears in your life, to do it.

I am usually weary about books written by celebrities because, I feel if they were made to write, they’d be doing that as a career, right? ANYWAY!!! Tiffany Haddish, is my girl, and when I heard her book was good, I had to check for myself! I LOVED IT! It’s funny, sad, AND R E A L!!!! Definitely, a great read!

The Last Black Unicorn had me gripped from start to finish. I found myself refreshingly surprised by the breadth of emotional territory Tiffany Haddish traversed throughout out this retelling of some of her life and career highlights — and lowlights. “Oh the places she’s been... and the crazy sh*t she’s seen”. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, not sure where on the spectrum of emotions the next passage was going to take me. Some of the stories here made me laugh so hard I cried (and check to see if anybody around me watching while praying I didn’t my pee pants)! She’s also masterful in sharing intimate details of some of the deep pain and sorrow she’s experienced which creates a window into her world, through her words, allowing us to feel as tough we were right there with her during the craziness of some of her awful days. The effect of her writing left me breathing — more like spitting —fire and wishing I hadn’t been born in the midwest with absolutely zero bad-ass skills. In my mind I was totally taking off my big hoop earrings more than once while reading this though. Most surprising, and what puts this on one of my favorite reads list, is Tiffany’s courage do dive deep with her range of expressing her emotional capacity in this piece. I tend to think that happy and angry are the sometimes the easier emotions to act out and talk about for some reason. To acknowledge grief and loneliness and fear and disappointment and regret to ourselves (let alone others) is often so hard. Tiffany took a huge, brave dive into the deep end, publicly exploring those emotions, thus giving lots of other women the courage, and a skeleton design of how to start, to do to the same for themselves. Finally, hidden within all of the “zero f*cks”, and “motherf*ckers”, are the words that bare witness to tender acts of kindness, dedication to family and a sense of old school values that are hard to find in people in nowadays — like never forgetting where your come from or the people who helped you get there. For all of these reasons and countless others, The Last Black Unicorn, by Tiffany Haddish is by far my favorite spring read of 2018.

What a powerful sense of humor she has! She certainly made a wonderful memoir out of her Dickensian beginnings. I hope she’ll write a film script one day.
