The Makings of Life and Dreams
The Makings of Life and Dreams is about a young boy named Travis Green, who grew up with his mother, Sandra Mitchener. She raised him as a single mother. His dad, Robert Lee Green, died in a car wreck when he was a baby. He lived with his mom and her family in a large house, decorated with beautiful flowers and an amazing landscape. He lived in a small country called Middlesex, and through his years as a child, he experienced many great memories with his family. But when he first entered Middlesex Elementary School, he soon realized the harsh realities of bullying and how it can overwhelmingly lead to suicidal thoughts. For a large part of his life, he dealt with the horrifying images of bullying, while attempting to stay focused in school. There were moments outside of school that made him feel like he was on top of the world and that he was out of reach from being hurt. Just when he thought life couldn't get any worse, he later discovered that he was gay. Here he was being bullied and at the same confronting homosexuality. He didn't know how to survive. He was losing himself in it all. Death was all around him. But out of the darkness came a bright light that begins to show him that he was more than who he was. He needed to embrace his difference and be the best Travis Green that he could be.
