In this 14th volume in the series, The Motor Boys on The Border, the boys head West in their dirigible/airplane, the Comet, to search for 60 gold nuggets hidden by a friend of their gold mine manager, Jim Nestor. Professor Snodgrass hitches a ride to look for snakes that glow in the dark-that's right, luminous snakes! Complicating their search is their constant enemy Noddy Nixon who has teamed up with some nefarious grub-stakers who also want to find the nuggets. If that weren't bad enough, the boys and their partners have to contend with some Blackfeet braves who have left the reservation to find their own action and adventure. Oh, boy!

About the Author

Clarence Young was a Stratemeyer Syndicate pen name. Howard Garis almost certainly wrote the series, although Stratemeyer usually provided his authors with an outline of the books. Garis and his wife, Lillian, wrote many children’s books under their own name. They are best known for a series of books that featured the character of Uncle Wiggily Longears, an engaging elderly rabbit. Many of Garis’ books were illustrated by Lansing Campbell. Garis and his wife, Lilian Garis, were possibly the most prolific children's authors of the early 20th century. Garis wrote many books for the Stratemeyers Syndicate as well, over a period of some 30 years.
