About the Author

Susan Schaefer is a consultant, writer, and speaker who is passionate about the nonprofit sector. Her practical approach to fundraising and board development has made her a frequent speaker at conferences and in classrooms. She founded Resource Partners LLC in 2001 with a mission to help nonprofits excel. Her work with executives, development staff, and boards has empowered dozens of organizations to reach and exceed their financial goals. Susan brings integrity and proven results to all her work, resulting in clients who return to her again and again.

Prior to founding Resource Partners, Susan helped lead the design and implementation of the billion-dollar Gates Millennium Scholars Program, funded by one of the largest private grants in history. Throughout her career, she has held seats on nonprofit boards, regularly holding leadership positions. Here next adventure includes serving as adjunct faculty Johns Hopkins University, where she is slated to teach fundraising. Susan holds a master’s degree in Not-for-Profit Management and a bachelor’s degree in English, both from the University of Maryland.

Linda Lysakowski is one of fewer than one hundred professionals worldwide to hold the Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive designation. In her twenty years as a philanthropic consultant, she has managed capital campaigns, helped dozens of nonprofit organizations achieve their development goals, and trained more than 25,000 professionals in Mexico, Canada, Egypt, Bermuda and most of the fifty United States, in all aspects of development.

Linda is an AFP Certified Master Trainer and serves on the board of the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy. She has received two AFP research grants. She is also a prolific writer, with a dozen books to her credit, and is always working on another book (or two, or three). Linda has received the Outstanding Fundraising Executive award from both the Eastern Pennsylvania and the Las Vegas chapters of AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) and in 2006 was recognized internationally with the Barbara Marion Award for Outstanding Service to AFP. Linda is also a graduate of the Lay Ecclesial Ministry Program, Diocese of Las Vegas and is active in her church in Boulder City, Nevada.
