About the Author

John Avanzato was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. He attended Fordham University undergraduate eventually going on to the SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine. He is a practicing gastroenterologist in upstate New York where he resides with his wife of more than thirty years. Hostile Hospital was his first foray into the world of creative writing. He now has now published fourteen full-length novels which have been well-received and has established himself as an author of medical thrillers revolving around the exploits of his singularly unique main character, John Cesari, a former gangster turned doctor. Avanzato affectionately refers to his works as being a new type of genre, the Gastro-Noir and his protagonist as being the "James Bond" of colonoscopy. Inspired by authors like Tom Clancy, David Baldacci, Mickey Spillane, John Grisham, and Lee Child, Avanzato writes about strong but flawed heroes.
