About the Author

George Bryant is the creative genius behind the wildly popular Paleo food blog Civilized Caveman Cooking Creations. After spending the first 20-something years of his life in a constant battle with his weight, and then nearly losing both his legs while deployed as a U.S. Marine, George took matters into his own hands and began his Paleo journey. What started as a simple place to post recipes for friends has since become an award-winning food blog. After serving in the Marines for 12 years, George now enjoys working full-time creating delicious Paleo recipes, hoping to change many lives for the better by making simple and tasty real food dishes.

Juli Bauer is a self-described foodie who creates Paleo versions of grain-filled favorites on her extremely successful blog, PaleOMG. She started the blog to help friends make the transition to Paleo a little more easily, only to see it grow from a few readers to more than 100,000 and counting in just eight months. The popularity of PaleOMG can be attributed to Juli’s refreshing honesty about her own trials and tribulations and to her mouthwatering recipes — and to her heartwarming personality. But what Juli loves most is having the opportunity to be a part of people’s lives through food. And Paleo food is what keeps us living longer and healthier, all together.

I am celebrating a recent 22 pound weight loss and I have been looking for new recipes to try. A friend suggested this book and I must admit that this is one of the best Paleo Cookbooks that I have ever cooked with! There are so many amazing and easy recipes in this book. I especially love that along side each recipe is a picture of the dish, making things so much easier to know if you are doing it right. If you are looking for a new cookbook, try this one.

I have followed Juli Bauer's blog for over a year now. I love her and this book!! I would suggest this book to anyone wanting to start the paleo lifestyle. I choose to eat this way because I don't do well with gluten. I feel great after I cook anything from The Paleo Kitchen. I have a ton of Paleo cookbooks and this one is by far my favorite!

"The Paleo Kitchen" has been one of the most creative Paleo recipe books that I have ever read. It truly extended my scope of what can be accomplished on the Paleo Diet. Examples of some of these recipes include Bacon Sweet Potato Hash with Apples and Pear, Creamy Cauliflower Soup, and Coffee Pecan Ice Cream. Even some of the recipes that are traditionally covered in Paleo recipe books, such as sweet potato fries, waffles, and burgers are given a creative flair. This book also had the most extensive list of "what you need for your paleo kitchen" as well. Just about everything you could ever need for a Paleo kitchen is needed. This list, coupled with Juli Bauer and George Bryant's personal stories in the beginning of the book, provide an excellent and authentic introduction to the Paleo world.  The other thing I liked was the great food photography, even in the Kindle version. Having said that, the recipes are not the quick "Let me just make something in 5 minutes" variety. You actually need to take your time with the recipes. There are a few recipes that can be done quickly, but an overwhelming majority require time in the kitchen and patience. If you are looking for a quick Paleo meal to make in 15 minutes or less, this might not be for you. If you are tired of creating the same bland, Paleo foods or just want to create something creative with a more natural approach, this book is for you. It's a great reference book and a perfect complement to books like the "Primal Blueprint Cookbook". I bought the Kindle version (due to a delivery mix-up with my print order), but I am going to buy the print version.

Highly recommended for those starting out on the paleo diet! Julie's recipes are easy, accessible and downright delicious! Check out her blog PaleOmg for more awesome recipes (the chorizo bacon meatloaf is a staple in my household!) Five stars!!

This is a great book. Since I started a paleo diet about a year ago, I have cooked a lot from the recipes on PaleOMG. I've just recently found Civilized Caveman, but have enjoyed the recipes that I've tried. This book is the best of both websites. I just got the book last week, and already I've made a handful of recipes. I made the crockpot pulled pork last was all I could do to not eat the entire roast!!! This one is a must.

This is my go to Paleo cookbook! PaleOMG and Civilized Caveman are my go to sites for recipes and this book, their book, combines the best of all their concoctions in one location! I SUPER love the sections on stocking your kitchen, produce storage and the photo index in the back rocks!

I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn how to eat Paleo. The recipes have been easy to make and my family have loved them. We especially enjoyed the pulled pork with honey lime roasted carrots on the side. I cannot wait to keep trying new recipes from this book!

This new book is fantastic. I have been a fan of George and Juli for a couple years. Have used a number of their recipes from their websites. This book is so well put together. It is so full of useful information and tips. Perfect for the novice or the veteran paleo eater. The photography is so enticing. I look forward to tested out all these new recipes.

When people ask me for help with Paleo Recipes the top two website I refer are Civilized Caveman and PaleOMG. It's awesome that these two Paleo Powerhouses have come together to create The Paleo Kitchen. The pictures in the book make it pretty enough to be a coffee table book! The recipes in this book make it a legit go-to Paleo Cookbook. Heck, you don't even have to be Paleo to enjoy George and Juli's recipes. I've been making them for years with nothing but great feedback-and surprise from those anti-paleos out there. My kids devour the fluffy blueberry pancakes and my personal favorite is the crockpot pulled pork, mostly because it's crockpot (hello, easy!!!) but the flavors are amazing! Do yourself a favor and buy your copy today!

I've been a fan of George's website and recipes since I went Paleo a little over two years ago. I was so excited when I first heard that he teamed up with Juli from PaleOMG to create this book. This book has something for everyone. It's recipes are realistic for the layman to be able to cook from it but still flavorful enough for even the most critical foodie. What I enjoy most about the book is that the recipes are real. What I mean by this is that the recipes don't call for any ingredients that you need only for one recipe and then will NEVER use again and the recipes are realistic to be able to put together in any kitchen. The pictures and layout/organization of the book and recipes make it easy to use. The lists at the beginning of what you're going to need make it a cinch to get yourself organized. The book and recipes are done in a more conversational tone so it's relatable, as if it was an old friend emailing you their favorite recipe. Even though I've done Paleo for 2 years and countless recipes there are plenty of new ones in this book to keep me busy for at least another year or two. I cannot recommend this book enough. I even bought a second copy for a friend who was just diagnosed as Gluten intolerant.

This book is just amazing!!  I've been Paleo for just over 5 months now and the results have been nothing but positive.  George and Juli's blogs have been a big part of my success with it.  To have both of them combining their knowledge in one book, it was bound to be amazing.  Only had it a few days and have already tried several recipes. Each one has been a big hit with everyone in the house.  Thanks to both of them for such a great resource.  I'd recommend this book as a good starter cookbook for anyone starting out in the Paleo lifestyle.  And if you're on Facebook, look them up under Civilized Caveman or Paleomg.  Daily inspiration and recipes and lots of community support.

George and Juli both have wonderful blogs and Facebook pages full of great stories and recipes, and that is just what they have brought to this book. The Paleo Kitchen was an obvious labor of love from 2 creative geniuses. It's beautifully put together and is so much more than just a cook book, it's a lifestyle guide for a path to health that was put together by 2 wonderful people. I'm so excited to finally have it in my hands and to be able to get to work in the kitchen on some of these wonderful recipes!

There are a lot of great cookbooks out there, but this one has some real standout features. * Great recipes, of course (that, for me, is the *minimum* standard for a cookbook) - the first dish that I prepared was the Honey Lime Carrots. Clear, simple instructions. Easy to source, simple ingredients. And a taste combination that I probably would have never thought up on my own, for all my experimenting. Wildly creative and wildly successful. If you think roasted carrots are on the dull end of the veggie spectrum, you must try these! * Gorgeous layout. Absolutely beautiful - clear, readable, tons of content on every page but NEVER cluttered or confusing to my AD/HD brain :) * Photography - well, I'm sure that almost every other reviewer here has already brought that one up. But really - it is lovely. * Simple, well researched but not "sciency jargony" explanations of What is real food, What is "Paleo", and Why is this useful information in the modern chem-lab "food-like-products" world. No dogma. No preaching. Simple clear statements of "this is how we choose to care for our health, try it if you want to." * How to choose the best quality ingredients, how to store them, how to start changing your eating habits if you want to ... so much information. I will be giving this book for birthday gifts for the rest of the year!

I've been eating Paleo for 3 years now and can say this book is perfect!  The pictures are beyond amazing, the recipes are fantastic, and the entire book has George's and Juli's "style" all over it.  I highly recommend it to anyone interested in Paleo, whether newbie or veteran.  Thanks guys!  This is *EXACTLY* what I needed in my kitchen.

This book is beyond fantastic. Every recipe picture is more delicious looking than the next. Julie & George have nailed the heart of this Paleolithic journey: yummy whole foods and unlimited choices!  I'm already planning on giving extra copies as gifts.  Perfectly laid out for the curious to the Cave girl/man veteran. Besides being two of the sweetest people,  Julie & George's love of this journey shines through in this recent release. Looking forward to many more!  Only downside: No sniff-N-scratch & LICK!  I recommend from the curious to the veteran cavester! #eatmorebacon

George and Juli have written an awesome book. The recipes are fantastic, and cover a wide range of foods and flavors. The photos are beyond gorgeous. There are helpful sections with advice on how to live your life (like ordering in restaurants) because they don't assume you're a hermit that will just want to live in your kitchen and cook from their book. Although you may want to move into your kitchen for awhile and do just that! If you're eating Paleo or thinking about it, this is one of the books you'll need.

I am simply ecstatic over this cookbook! The tips and hints are are helpful whether you are new or a veteran to the paleo lifestyle, the pictures are beautiful, and the recipes are absolutely amazing!! This is definitely my new go-to cookbook!

This book is great for beginners and Paleo veterans alike, with tons of information on seasonable fruits and vegetables, as well as a good explanation of what "Paleo" is. I'm a huge fan of Juli's recipes because they are always simple and to the point and you can defiantly see her influence on many of these recipes. This book really takes things to the next level and awakens the secret desire we all have: to be a gourmet chef! Really beautiful book with wonderful pictures! Defiantly pick this up, its a must to complete your cookbook collection. I'm salivating just thinking about the recipes! Thanks Juli and George :)

Paleomg and Civilized Caveman were the first two blogs I started following when I discovered Paleo, and I have loved their passion, their awesome sense of humor, and of course all their recipes ever since. I’ve been waiting for The Paleo Kitchen for a VERY long time, and I have to say it was exactly what I was expecting… and so much more!! I own a LOT of Paleo cookbooks but I have to say that Juli and George have created a real BEAUTY - full of original, mouth-watering recipes that I have started testing literally as soon as I got the book! Once The Paleo Kitchen was in my hands, I started flipping through the pages and honestly there wasn't even ONE recipe that I didn't want to try straight away! The photography is beautiful, all the recipes are amazingly easy to follow and just DELICIOUS. My favorite so far - Candied Bacon Chocolate Brownies (I know, right???), Sweet Potato Quiche, Cinnamon Rolls, Shredded Pork Meatloaf, Lemon Raspberry Swirl Muffins... but something tells me there will soon be many, many more! In addition to more than 100 incredible recipes, there are also lots of useful tips, both for beginners and Paleo experts! I have loved EVERY SINGLE RECIPE I have tried so far and can't wait to make more of them! I highly recommend everyone to buy this amazing book - I'm sure you won't regret it!
