A caustic riot of riffs, screams, and mayhem, Underoath's tenth LP The Place After This One is a wild, unrelenting assault. Packed with plenty of thrills and some surprises -- the sonic swerves on "Devil" are worth a listen -- this 12-song set really leaves no time to breathe (until the beautiful closing track "Outsider"), which would be overkill if it wasn't for the fact that it's so much fun. Their usual twin-vocal attack and standard metalcore delivery is peppered with dance-worthy pogo bounce, melodic synth stabs, and breakbeats that invigorate what would otherwise be a straightforward, muscular attack.
