As a working woman, I'm always looking for fast and healthy meals to add to my repetoire. When I come home at the end of a long day, I don't want to spend a long time preparing a healthy meal. So, if I don't plan for it, my family and I will end up going out to eat which is not only unhealthy but expensive. I am not extremely familiar with pressure cookers, so I thought this would be a good book to check out. I was hoping I could find a new cooking method and some new recipes. There is definitely a lot of good information in this book. The author takes you through everything you need to know from getting it out of the package and turning it on, to cooking and even cleaning it. I appreciated this because, as I said, I'm new to the pressure cooker world. The recipes all looked delicious. With under 5 ingredients, they all were fairly simple to prepare. Unfortuantely, I was unimpressed with the cooking time. These recipes took anywhere from 20 minutes (and there weren't a lot of these) to 2 hours. Since I'm looking for something quick, I was hoping that there would be more recipes on the 20 to 30 minute level. There was one other thing that bothered me about this cookbook. Although the author gives every detail on the pressure cooker, it didn't seem as easy as she was making it out to be. There were a whole list of instructions for cleaning it. I don't want to have to spend hours after the meal cleaning any more than I want to spend hours ON the meal. I would recommend this book but not necessarily for busy families as the author states. I would recommend it for those that know pressure cookers and what they are getting into. I would have to give this 3 stars because it just wasn't as easy and quick as I was thinking. Still, the recipes were tantalizing.

Recipes look tasty and also made with commonly stocked ingredients. But what a disappointment at the end in the dessert category. Almost nonexistent with maybe 4 recipes and none of what is commonly used. Good beginner book however.
