The Price of Perfect

America is in an angry, argumentative, finger-pointing mood today. The word "Racist" is used as both an accurate description of someone and a weapon to close down discussions and devalue the counter opinion of others. This novel is a timely tale of an Atlanta architect trying to build what he believes will be a masterpiece for his city and himself. But rumors of his and his father's racial pasts are used by a Racial Justice Advocate to push her cause at the city's and the architect's expenses. The architect stands to lose his wife and friends because he refuses to stop his chase of the perfect design. It is a timely tale of how we are all fallen, trying to be perfect in our own ways, but how we all fail.

This novel reflects the present-day conflict to find a balance in the harsh issues of race and culture and the struggle for resolution amidst our country's reported anguish and anger.

Praise for The Price of Perfect

William Anderson has written a powerful story that chronicles the conflict between a modern-day Atlanta developer and the preservation of a historic site rooted in the city's dark history. The Price of Perfect addresses our modern-day racial issues with a deft hand opening for discussion about today's culture wars. It is a story you will remember for its balance of both sides of the issue. -Jim, Harvey, author of Grayton Beach Affair

A timely, explosive, and powerful story portraying the challenge of the racial divide in today's America. Anderson paints unforgettable characters and scenes with the brush of a poet. - Jameson Gregg, Georgia Author of the Year, author of Luck be a Chicken

What was it that drove this main character to lay everything and everyone on the line? To risk it all, to gain it all? Was it worth the price of being perfect? Only he could answer these questions that sometimes confront all of us. And what is perfect anyway? - Melanie Williams

Just finished it, and Wow! So much great about it. I think [the author] captured the politics of...the delicate black/white issue that is right now exploding in the press and the nation. - Kathy Cretney, President of Chestatee Book Club

With authority and mastery of prose, Anderson cleverly and skillfully guides the reader through the individual hurdles and personal obstacles that appear at Jack's every turn. ...well-paced, nuanced, yet complicated enough that readers will long to turn the page. - Janie G. Mills

Thoroughly enjoyed The Price of Perfect. [The author's] development of current racial issues and attitudes through the individual character's dialogue was creative, insightful, and hard-hitting. It really is a good read. - Bob Urland
