When I first started reading The Right Choice by Carly Phillips, I didn't agree with Carly's attraction to Mike nor could I understand it. The Right Choice begins in the tuxedo shop where she is to meet up with her fiance, Peter. She's about to get married, shouldn't she be happy with her fiance? Why does she feel the way she does about her fiance's brother? As I kept reading, I started to understand why she felt the way she did with Mike. She felt something for Mike, but when she was with her fiance, she didn't seem to feel anything. We come to find out that Peter is only engaged to Carly for selfish reasons -- he wants to make partner at her father's law firm where he works. He admits to Mike that he does not love Carly! Carly wants marriage, kids, the house, and the white picket fence. She wants family. She wants to be settled down and feel safe. She thinks Peter can provide that for her. She is in need of feeling safe and secure in a marriage with Peter. Mike is only in town for his brother Peter's wedding. Mike works as a photojournalist, so he is always on the road for work. While he loves his work, can love settle him down in one place? Since Peter spends so much time at the office rather than help Carly plan their wedding, he asks his brother Mike to help Carly with whatever she needs. As Carly and Mike spend more time together, their feelings slowly seep to the surface for each other. Carly realizes that she shouldn't have to compromise about things regarding her own wedding. Her decisions and opinions don't seem to matter when she shared them with Peter. Carly finally comes to her senses and breaks off her engagement with Peter. She decides to escape to her parent's vacation home to get away for a while and catch up on her writing. Mike ends up on her doorstep, he says he's there for work and to see how she is doing. While alone, they have a chance to explore each other's feelings for one another. Carly falls hard for Mike, knowing he must leave at a moments notice for work. While they are apart, they realize their past shouldn't hold them back. What they thought was true, was not the truth at all. They both go on a self discovery to see they need and love each other. I found The Right Choice to be a great book to read. This is the perfect book to read if you need a little inspiration of self discovery or read a sweet love story.

I so love the way Carly Phillips writes a story. It's full of so much heart, love, laughter and sexiness. The Right Choice was chalk full of all those things. I will say, falling for the brother of the ex has never been my favorite troupe, but I enjoyed this one! Mike was so good for Carly and vice versa. They had amazing chemistry from the moment they met and that's the part that really sucked me in. Good, quick, sexy read! :) Happy reading!

Carly Wexler thinks she has everything in her life mapped out. Since her dad had cheated on her mom, Carly believed that she didn't need to love her future husband, just be good friends. As Carly is getting ready to marry Peter Novack in a few weeks, she didn't expect to be completely drawn to his brother, Mike! Zing....instant attraction! It doesn't help that Mike is instantly attracted to Carly and knows that she shouldn't marry his brother. I really enjoyed these two characters. They both had unresolved issues from their past that they needed to work through before they could truly be happy. I loved how they brought out the best in each other and seemed to genuinely like each other. Their happy ending was just perfect...Loved it!

This was a great read. Carly Wexler is engaged to marry to Peter Novak, a lawyer that wants to be a partner in her fathers firm. Then she meets her finances brother Mike who is running from things in his past as she is. This story with many twists. I love Carly Phillips writing even some of her earlier writing which this is. Who will Carly end up with or will she go it alone.

3.5 Stars Carly Wexler has always made the safest choices in life in order to make sure her life turns out right, including her engagement. However, when her fiancé’s brother comes to town for the wedding, Carly experiences feelings that she never knew possible. Now she must choose between her desires and her life plan. This is a very fast read. The ebook had several spacing issues throughout the story, but they did not detract from the flow. The characters needed to be fleshed out a bit more, but overall this is an unexpected sweet story about deciding between true-love versus planning what one thinks is best. Fans of Carly Phillips work will enjoy the chance to read one of her earlier stories. Notes: I won a copy of this ebook in a contest held by the author. A free 150 page story of a writer and psychologist with old family issues that she lets dictate her life choices and wedding compromises, her work dedicated lawyer fiance, and his journalist photographer war correspondent brother on leave for the wedding and a much needed break. The instant attraction he feels for his brother's fiance, and the lack of attraction his brother has for his fiance with her past family issues leads to an interesting story. A little humor, a lot of angst, some drama, kissing, and light sex scenes. An excerpt for another story is also provided.

Love at first's great when it happens, but probably shouldn't be happening with your soon-to-be brother-in-law! Carly has it all planned out...the right guy, the right time, the right wedding, the right everything.  Or so she thinks.   When she meets Mike, her finance's brother, her world is turned upside down--everything that was "right" in her life now seems so wrong and the wrong brother might be "The One".  Follow on their journey of interest and intrigue in each other, their mutual resistance to Cupid, and the final realization that the initial right choice was wrong and how they might be perfect for each other!  Quick, light read, perfect for a winter weekend or a trip to the beach. The characters draw you into their lives with ease, although some points seem a little too contrived. Still a book I would recommend again and again! Disclaimer--I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I liked this story and the characters and I'm glad they got their happy ending.  The way they had to work through their issues really slowed the pace, but I'd still recommend it.  I look forward to finding out what happens to Peter.  The ending was sweet.  I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I recently had the pleasure of reading “The Right Choice,” an oldie but goody about two souls running from life and personal attachments. Originally written as Karen Drogin, Carly Phillips puts her unique twist on the standard tale of a girl engaged to the wrong guy for security due to past hurt until she meets his brother and put Phillips unique twist on it. As with most of her books, The Right Choice is told with warmth, humor and emotion. Each grapples with hurt, Carly Wexler with her dad’s infidelity and her mother’s refusal to acknowledge it happened afterward, her coldness during Carly’s teens. Carly learns to shut down. Brother and hero Mike Novak uses his job as a photojournalist to hightail it when the possiblity of a connections arise; he leaves so they won’t have the chance to leave him the way his parents abondoned him and brother Peter, Carly’s fiance. Both learn to live and trust again, to give themselves a chance to feel and to trust others. Of course, that means a lot of give, extracting Carly from her engagement to Peter and globetrotting Mike wanting a home. By the end of the book, you even learn to accept Peter as the friend he once was to Carly.  Phillips wraps this tale in fun, laughter and heightened emotions. The decriptions she uses, however, are a big part of what makes her tales so interesting. Here are a few examples: "a look that could freeze hot coffee" "The woman would never hold her own in a game of poker, but at least he’d never be left guessing about her true feelings." And thoughts don't just run through your mind in Phillips’ tales. They go "rampaging around her brain." Phillips is a master at using just the description to fit the situation, the locale she is describing. Even something as simple as  While describing Carly’s feelings toward Mike during an outting at an amusement park, Phillips uses terms like rush... dizziness... heady rush tidal wave of sensations... threatening, when describing the something as simple as goosebumps and attraction from a finger nip: "A rush of dizziness assaulted her, but that was like a small wave compared to the heady rush she received when he nibbled on her fingertip with his teeth. A tidal wave of sensations surged through her. Such a simple act threatened her very being." There are people who write books and then there are writers, true wordsmiths, storytellers. Carly Phillips, aka Karen Drogin, is a storyteller — her readers taste, smell, see, hear and feel everything her characters do. This is why I have been a Carly Phillips fan for well over a decade. "The Right Choice" has recently been released in ebook format. Get a copy now for a couple of hours of enjoyable reading.JaymyM.

Very enjoyable story about Carly, a woman who has set out to protect herself from the pain that can come from loving and trusting someone by choosing a "safe" guy to marry. She chooses her friend Peter, an ambitious and single-minded attorney who works hard to make partner in her father's law firm. Neither feels passion for the other but both believe they will get something they want from marriage with a partner who understands their needs and isn't expecting great love in return. There marriage plans all seem to be going well until just weeks before the wedding Peter's brother Mike comes to town and he and Carly are drawn to each other with chemistry that is practically combustible. Carly is attracted to Mike which beyond terrifies her so she tries to fight her feelings. Mike feels that same intense attraction but doesn't want to betray his brother and only living relative. He is also a world traveling photojournalist with serious commitment fears. Yet Peter, who is oblivious to what's going on with anyone but himself, keeps pushing them together for wedding things so he can carry on uninterrupted. Eventually things come to a head. Everyone not only has to face what's really going on, but the root of their issues. Of course, in her usual wonderful way, Ms. Phillips wraps it all up neatly and manages to not only leave all the characters friends with most of their personal fears resolved, but we romantics get our HEA. What more can you ask? *I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest review.

Carly Phillips is not one of my favorite authors, but it seems I always come back to her books, and somewhat enjoy them, even though this one was completely predictable, I still enjoyed it.
