The Runemaster
When the first English settlers stepped onto Britain's shores, they brought with them legends of gods, runes and giants, of seven worlds entangled by an all-knowing fate. They believed these tales to be true. It turns out they were right. For fifteen hundred years, a bundle of runesheets has lain hidden in the homes of the English Midlands - stuffed into boxes, left in the corner and passed down from father to son. To the six friends who find them, the runes bring the power to shape fate. But their exploits do not go unseen. In far higher worlds than their own, heads begin to turn. One of the friends delves more deeply than the others. But his craft begins to consume him. As he spirals out of control, those who try to contain him unleash a still bigger threat: one even the gods could not have foreseen. From four disparate worlds, the race is on to find him. This is folklore as you've never heard it before. To the first English speakers, this was the gospel. The Runemaster is an action adventure based on the little-known faith of the heathen English. It forms the first of three books in the Blood of Woden series. Set in present-day Birmingham, this high-octane novel is a thrilling mix of historic fantasy and twenty-first century action. The six heroes are straight from the morning commute, yet the worlds they uncover were every bit as real to those who founded their city. The action leads them to Denmark, then into the wilds of Shropshire and finally back to the city, where comeuppance awaits.

About the Author

PJ Triplow has a passion for action and adventure, both in his own life and through the lives of his characters. This, combined with a lifelong interest in early English culture, provides the inspiration for much of his work.

His first trilogy, Blood of Woden, takes the earliest fragments of English folklore and thrusts them into the everyday world of the present. The resulting story provides a gripping, contemporary adventure which showcases a lost world of heathen beliefs.

PJ was raised in Berkshire but grew up in the Midlands, where he has spent the whole of his adult life. Promoting this beautiful yet overlooked corner of the country is a big part of his work, and his characters reflect both the hard, suburban grind of the city and the slow-paced drift of the country.

He began writing while still at school, but earning a living then took over, and his writing became a hobby for evenings and weekends. Now, as a full-time author, he works from home in Shropshire. PJ is a keen snowboarder, ice skater and rugby fan.
