WHAT A TALE & much more than blood and gore! From beginning to end, I was captivated by the mind of "SANTA" - how/who can be that heinous? With that said, when my mouth was hanging open by what I'd read, the author would inject some humor and I loved that! When the police and FBI got involved, the action got even more exciting. This is not my typical read but based on reviews and the spectacular cover, I bought it. I've read many books where the ending is a let down but this one (JMO) ended perfectly! Congratulations RJ Smith and I anxiously await the release of your next book!

I will never look at Santa the same way again! This book is a fantastic, suspenseful thriller with excellent use of the Jingles that we know and love to new ones that will chill you to the bone! Excellent execution of storyline and fabulous dialogue. I recommend this book to crime, mystery and horror fiction fans alike. Great Job, R.J.!

RJ Smith taps into our pre-existing fears and skilfully turns Christmas cheer into a living nightmare; who would dare to venture forth dressed as Santa Claus? Those that did were not safe. My coulrophobia (fear of clowns, particularly the Pennywise variety), paled into insignificance whilst reading The Santa Claus Killer; hello Santaphobia! Laced throughout with humour, this book is a scary delight. The image of a courtroom filled with a row of Santa union representatives (in seasonal garb) all baying for justice in the absence of the Santa Claus victim of a brutal beating by young thugs, is a hoot! This fairly innocuous sub-plot becomes the basis for Santa’s Christmas list - an array of psychopathic ritual murders that I rapidly came to realise was described in RJ Smith graphic detail! This is a chilling tale from an active imagination – there is something about gruesome that has you transfixed. It is set against a harsh view of Manhattan under life, although not without certain moments of camaraderie and tenderness executed sensitively by the writer. Truth was I couldn’t put it down. Mind you I don’t know how I will react the next time I meet someone dressed in a red and white fur-trimmed suit, probably run like hell as if the hounds of hell were after me. Mr Smith’s command of atmospheric description I found quite spell binding; it was colourful, lurid and so damned creepy that I felt a rare nervousness whilst reading the book. I won’t say I slept with the light on, but I left the blinds open just in case! Like Mr Smith I hold Stephen King as the Master of horror; but with his finely honed imagination (one hopes!) I’m not sure I’d like to meet the author down a dark alley in the dead of night, just to be on the safe side. I don’t know whether it has already been earmarked for a film script – if not it ought to be; it was really quite an amazing read! Move over Mr King you have competition. Pat McDonald

Gruesome, and twisted but brilliant! I received a signed copy of the much anticipated book from the author RJ Smith. I have read many of the reviews on Facebook about this book, and it is true nothing will prepare you for the content of this book. Firstly, I have to say that I am not a horror fanatic, at all! Do not read books or watch movies in this genre. Just too gory for me, thank you. J Where to begin! The story is unique, well written with enough detail to see it happening right before your eyes. Like watching it on a big screen. I loved the clever snippets, with different fonts, creating the sounds and atmosphere as you read the story. The nursery rhymes gave it an eerie feeling as the story builds, layer upon layer to reveal all the twists in the plot. Shocking revelations that laid the sickness of humanity in horrific encounters, as bodies appeared. Piling up as Santa Claus walks the streets of New York. As a foreigner, who have never been in New York the descriptions of this city is entertaining, but yet amongst all the glamour and lights an empty world is revealed. Struggling street kids, worthless homeless bums, the filth of the streets giving you another glimpse of this well known icon in America. As I read the book, the well known phrase of Frank Sinatra’s song came to mind. If I can make it there I'll make it anywhere  It's up to you New York, New York Life is hard, even here in this much talked about, dreams come true, tourist attraction. The characters were fascinating, well researched, always with a human side as the gruesome story unfolds. Stefan, a street kid’s character touched your heart as he faced the many difficulties of life, friendship, parenthood and survival. Ending up as a hero, and for the first time he knew he belonged. I loved all the different names of the Killer as the author kept your focus throughout the story line. Knee Bouncer or Cat Killer just to name two. I can not reveal too much J  Buy and read the book,, really! The personality of this creep, his inward struggles with demons and ghosts as he walked the streets in his Santa suit, a real nut case on two legs. With bodies everywhere, blood always drips to announce his arrival. His sick and twisted mind in delirium, with his faithful hatchet in his hand, and ghostly voices in his head, always urging him on.   Rico Martinez, hard-ass detective, on his way out, and his team had to catch this man as Christmas comes closer. Chasing this man all around the sewers and filth, with shocking discoveries along the way. Even a romance developing, so sweet. J Captivating and thrilling with actual facts mixed within the story line makes this a great read, one I can recommend to all fans of horror. It will keep you glued to the book, even after dark, with Santa’s ring tone in your head. Masterfully created to makes this a Best Seller. I am really looking forward to more books out of this author’s pen (keyboard).

An EXCELLENT story! Mr. Smith has a rare and special talent to write in VIVID pictures. I was captured in the moment of every chapter as if I was a part of each scene. From the introduction of characters, to the story that builds around them, the author makes you feel the character's emotions, lifestyle, heart and the surroundings of which they live. His talent in writing the detective scenes as they chase the diabolical killer is SUPERB and the killer himself was written ... well, let's just say he made my skin crawl sending chills up & down my spine. In final words to RJ SMITH... thanks for your storytelling as I put you in the company of great writers such as Elmore Leonard, Ann Rice, Stephen King and Sidney Sheldon, you are the new kid on the block and welcome to the neighborhood! I am already looking forward to your next book.

I am so sorry Stephen King and Dean Koontz. I didn't mean to be unfaithful but OMG, there is a "new Kid on the Block", Seriously, what?!! Not one to ever switch from my macabre heroe's, I thought, "What could it hurt to read this?" OMG, Now I CANNOT WAIT for his next book. RJ Smith you are not only, ON your way, you are there Mister!! I praise your writing. Now there are three writers that I absolutely must have every one of their books. Congrats Mister!!!!!

I have to say I don't read a lot of books. A friend of mine asked me to take a few minutes and read a little of this book called, The Santa Claus Killer. I thought to myself okay really a Santa Claus Killer. I sat down started reading and I could not put the book down. I could not wait to turn the page to see what was next. It was exciting & thrilling! I felt like I was right there and I could not wait to see what was going to happen next! RJ Smith is a great writer and I can't wait to see what he writes next. I may have to start reading a lot more books if he continues to write like this. Awesome Book!!

Ho, ho & watch the heads roll! With a hard-broiled detective voice and a Jack Nicholson "Shining" kind of scary, "The Santa Claus Killer" is a fast read filled with incredibly written characters. I'd follow the author R.J. Smith on any literary journey. He peels back all the fluff and drenches the reader in his world of twisted characters, pop culture tidbits, NYC history and a Santa delivering hatchet whacks for Christmas. It's entertaining and filled with so many cool characters, that I'm ready for some spin-off novels with their adventures. One good read and two thumbs up!

I have known and enjoyed knowing Mr. RJ Smith for a number of years...and have even spent time during his Manhattan visit a few month's ago with this most talent and exceptional author. I highly recommend this very entertaining, gripping...even prolifically researched...great work of his first published book, "The Santa Clause Killer". I can NOT WAIT until his other books hit the literary stages around the world. John Scheifele, filmmaker, Capriole Productions, Inc., Princeton, NJ, USA

RJ Smith has created a story that will pull you in and hold you there until the last page.  This story isn't Sugar or Spice, so be prepared to leave all the lights on while reading this tale of terror.  I found myself cringing at what this Santa would do to his victims, as RJ was able to clearly paint the images in my mind.  I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy losing themselves in a dark and twisted world.

Richard Blake was a bright, young medical doctor with looks to kill for, but he described himself as just an ordinary guy making the best of life. In reality, Richard was never just an ordinary guy. We are taken through Richard's chaotic world of complete insanity and through the offices of the NYPD and FBI as they hunt him down. This story is not for the squeamish, it is not for thos delicate of mind. This is a story for fans of Stephen King and fans of John Grisham. THE SANTA CLAUS KILLER is a wonderful combination of both!

I don't usually like to read stories about trying to find murderers running havoc. But, I have to say, the brilliant, unique writing style that author R.J.Smith uses to suck you in, is compelling in itself. It's clear that the author knows NYC inside out which makes us visualize that we are not only following bad Santa ourselves through Times Square, but also makes us aware that we, as readers, are being followed as well. And that's creepy. His chapters don't follow a traditional flow as found in most fictional books. He deviates from some chapters to focus on a specific character or two that really pulls us into their minds and motivations. I love that! You feel you know these characters and the murderous world they partake in even if you've never been to NYC.

You better watch out, this is going to be a best seller. The Santa Claus Killer is a real creep show. A psycho-thrillerthat is relentless in its writing and doesn't let go. RJ Smithis a powerful new master storyteller painting graphic wordson every page. I haven't read anything this gripping in years.A terrifying slay ride of a read.

Gritty, frightening and compelling, this story launches from page one and takes you for one helluva ride! It is a fast-paced and scary tour of a sociopath's psyche. RJ's writing style grabs you by the hair and jerks you to attention and holds you there to the very last page. I highly recommend this book, especially to fans of King and Grisham.

Ho Ho Ho and NOT a Merry Christmas - not for Manhattan anyway! The Santa Claus Killer is a terrifying ride in the mind of a diabolical crazy "Santa" who brings nightmare to Manhattan as he knocks off his "naughty list." Tormented by the abusive dead parents bantering in his head, he creates complete havoc during the city's most exciting time of year. Packed full of interesting tidbits, I enjoyed the tour through NY history along the way, and the author created colorful descriptions where I felt like I was in Manhattan for Christmas! The clever prose was fun and conversational, with the author stepping out now and then to engage with the reader. I would definitely recommend this book - it should go in every stocking! Clever, Going against the grain.I will forever view those dressed as santa claus with suspension.  This is a creep fest indeed. A serial killer is haunted by to voices of his dead mother and father who constantly egg him on and squabble within his head. This writer breaks all molds of constraints in writing style and format of his pages. Vivid imagery and colorful off the hip commentary to tickle your fancy With a nice slow burn out of the gates to get things warmed and loosened up setting the scene beautifully. Turning into a hang on to your seat for this gritty ride. This author is delightfully different and entertaining, putting himself out there for his fans. That is so refreshing. I can see the DNA of the author all over the pages of this book. His blood, sweat and tears intermingle with an "against the grain" writing style. Think I like his rebel ways. I felt I was right there on the streets with the characters. Love the different style he formats and play with fonts. Forging new roads with his use of language and use of wit. I felt a true sense of connection with this author and his characters.

One of the better psychological thrillers to come onto the Murder Scene of fiction. This was my first outing riding an R.J. Smith terror tale, and yet it feels like I've discovered something of a new genre of writing. The Santa Claus Killer is in your face with no-nonsense story weaving. The killer, Richard Blake is well drawn out, his character fleshed out like I have never seen before in an American Crime Novel. Not only will I buy Smith's next book, but I think I shall read his before James Patterson, and that's huge because I was a Patterson fanatic. No more! I am now on that night train north into the blizzard of hell.
