The Sight, the second novel in the Devil’s Isle series, shows a natural evolution between those with magic and those without. Fighting a common enemy has opened their eyes so that hopefully the rules in place will change. However, in the fight against this common enemy, casualties happen that may affect their relationships longterm. The first novel in this series spent a lot of time setting up the world building and main characters. Because of that it took a little while for the characters to grow on me. In The Sight, I know where everyone stands, their feelings about magic and Sensitives, and so the story seemed to move a lot quicker. Also the fight against a common enemy was a nice way to force characters into holding their bias at bay and growing a bit. If I found fault with anything in this novel it was that the characters feelings seemed a little juvenile for the seriousness of their situations. At times I wanted to give them a kick in the shins to hurry them along the path I wanted them to take. Unfortunately the shins I wanted to kick the hardest were Claire and Liam’s and because of that my feelings weren’t enmeshed as much as they should’ve been in the storyline. However, this book does have a great twist at the end, so I may have to pick up the next book and see how their story continues. ❤️❤️❤️

Great book! I loved this one more than The Veil. Action packed with a deep plot and the character interaction is wonderful.

The Sight is book two in the Devil’s Isle series by Chloe Neill. We’re in the middle of a war that gets dangerous fast. This series does need to be read in order. Their is very little recap, and most of the world-building is laid out in book one, The Veil. Each book builds on the next getting us deeper into the magical and political world. The Sight is tailored towards the political implications of two opposing sides. The start was a bit slow, which made it hard to get into the story, but around the hallway point things pick up and come to a head. Things then start to get very interesting with a few surprises and revelations along the way. It makes me curious especially after such an ending to see what will happen next. I didn’t expect that outcome. We do get some forward progress with Claire and Liam’s romance. The sexual tension is strong between them, but even though they make progress, they also take a few steps back. Overall, I really enjoyed The Sight. Rated: 3.5 Stars

The Sight is the second book of the Devil’s Isle Series. When reading the publisher synopsis, I believed it was a standalone book so I have not read the previous book in the series, The Veil. This lack of previous experience with the world and characters did not, however, inhibit my understanding and enjoyment of The Sight. The story takes place in a not so distant future and seven years after the end of the Paranormal war. New Orleans has changed to include a plethora of abandoned or destroyed buildings, Containment where Paranormals and wraiths are held, and refugee camps. The point-of-view character is Claire, a fiery redheaded Sensitive and bounty hunter in training who runs a post-apocalyptic shop called the Royal Mercantile. Along with her star-crossed lover, Liam, and her close friends Tadji, Gunnar, and Gavin, Claire has to figure out how to help take down the army of civilian anarchists who call themselves Reveillon. The thing I liked best about this book was how Neill managed to run various subplots throughout the main plot. Instead of taking the reader from. Point A to point B from beginning to end, there are many detours that are also relevant to the main storyline and help build upon it. There are also several references within the book about how people tend to fear what we don’t understand, which many people in our diverse world could identify with. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will likely go back to read the previous book of the series, The Veil, to pick up anything I’ve missed. I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for this honest review. For this review and more, please visit my blog at

4.5 of 5 Stars Chloe Neill’s THE SIGHT is another great adventure in the Devil's Isle series. Sensitive Claire Connolly and Bounty hunter Liam Quinn work with their friends to bring down a dangerous cult that is against all magic. This urban fantasy takes place in New Orleans. As always, Chloe Neill does an amazing job with her character development. Clare continues to grow and control her magic. I could understand why Clare was upset with Tadji’s help at her store. I like that she recognized why she felt that way and discussed it with Tadji. I like that Clare takes the initiative to see how she can help the inhabitants of Devil’s Isle. The plot was fascinating and full of action. Clare discovers some interesting this about her father. However, she is still left with a lot of questions. Ezekiel and the Reveillon cause a lot of anguish and controversy in this story. There were many twists that kept me engaged throughout the novel. I enjoyed how Liam’s and Clare’s relationship has evolved. He can be very compassionate. I was concerned about what happened at the end of the story and look forward to finding out what comes to pass next in the book. Chloe Neill’s Devil's Isle series is an imaginative and thrilling series that I look forward to continuing reading. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 1/2 The Sight is the second book in Chloe Neill’s Devil’s Isle series (I would highly suggest reading book one before you open this book) and boy howdy is this a good book!!! There is so much that happens both good and bad in this book I am not sure where to start without giving anything away. But war is coming to the Quarter and Devil’s Isle and not all will survive. And those who do may never see the world the same again. There is so so so much I could tell you but I won’t. You need to pick up a copy of The Veil (bk 1 Devil’s Isle) and get started in this series. I had the great pleasure of listening to this book on audible and Amy Landon does a wonderful job yet again!! But even if Ms. Neill took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and left me yell at my audiobook many times I have faith that she will make right any and all the wrongs that happened in The Sight. I am super excited and depressed at the same time. Excited for the next book and depressed I have to wait another year to find out what happens. It is going to be a very long year of waiting. Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley & an audio version from Tantor Audio in exchange for an honest review. This review is my own opinion and not a paid review.

I love this new series! Chloe Neill creates a new paranormal world within our world. It's new, fresh, and gripping. I sat and read this one in one sitting... now to dream of the next one! I hate to say it, but I may even like this more than the CV series. It's THAT good!!

This was a good second installment in the Devil's Isle series. I didn't like it quite as much as the first book in the series but it was a solid story that left me quite excited about where things are going. This is a series that really needs to be read in order since this book picks up shortly after the first one left off with all of the familiar characters being a part of the story. I enjoyed this one quite a bit. One of the biggest strengths of this book is the world building. I love the setting of New Orleans even though it is a different city than we have in our world. Claire's lives in a New Orleans that has been changed by magic. Those with magic are sent to Devil's Isle where they are kept away from everyone else. The world building is really well done and I can clearly imagine this city that has been so deeply changed. The characters are great in the series. I love following a great cast of characters in a book series. It is really fun to see how they grow and change over time. This group of characters are really strong. Claire is willing to sacrifice in order to help the people that live in the city. Liam is dedicated to keeping the city safe and has taken Claire under his wing. They both care for each other but try to stay friends because of Claire's magic. I liked the overall plot of this book. I thought that there was quite a bit of excitement in the story as Claire and Liam worked to try to find out who was behind the attack and then in their quest to stop them. They found themselves in a couple of rather intense situations and I actually wasn't sure how things would work out. There was a little twist at the end that really sets the stage for an exciting third book. I would recommend this series to fans of paranormal romance and urban fiction. I can't really make comparisons between this series and Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampires series since I have only read the first book in that series. I do know that this series is starting very strong and I am really looking forward to seeing where it goes. I received an advance reader edition of this book from Berkley Publishing Group via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.

I received this book on Netgalley via invite from Chloe Neill and the publisher for an honest review since I am part of the book tour. I love how when Chloe writes novels that she stays with one main plot(issue) for the characters but there are always more things happening that you start to wonder about. Claire finds out some information about her dad that she didn't know. It changes things for her and makes her wonder if she even really knew him. Liam is with her all the way and we finally find out more on why he won't just follow threw with starting a relationship with Claire. But let me tell you he still makes me mad with certain things he does. We see a lot of Tadji, Gunnar, and Gavin threw out the book. However, they are just a supporting cast and just help make Claire's life a bit easier since more happens in this book. I am sadden by how the book ends since it truly brought me to tears. I cannot wait to read more on this series. You will not want to put down once you start reading it.

The Sight by Chloe Neill is the 2nd book in her Devil’s Isle series. The story picks up pretty much where the first book left off. You can read my review of The Veil here, if you want a refresher. Claire Connolly is our heroine in this series; she is a Sensitive, but she also has magic, which she hides, with only a select few knowing. If she is discovered to have magic, she would then be locked up in Devil’s Isle, instead of working with Liam, our hero, in learning how to become a bounty hunter. Claire is also learning how to control her magic, to be able to protect herself. Most people in New Orleans know Claire, as runs a local store for food and supplies. While she and Liam are searching for a sensitive that lost control of his magic, and become a dangerous wraith; they are approached by a group of people chanting. This new cult, wants to eliminate all paranormals, including those on Devil’s Isle, and anyone who befriends or protects them. The leader of the cult is dangerous and thinks nothing of killing innocents. It is up to Claire and Liam, and their friends to find a way to stop them from destroying New Orleans. What follows is an action packed intense story in a dark urban fantasy world that will bring even enemies together to help fight off the terrorist cult that has now outnumbered them. In between the oncoming attack, Claire and Liam finally succumb to their growing love for each other. I loved the secondary characters that are Claire’s friends, who will play instrumental parts in fighting off enemy. At times, things were a bit slow, as you learn so many details on this strange new world; but the story overall was very exciting with lots of action. The best thing about this series is the heroine, Claire, who made a wonderful heroine; she was determined, strong, loyal, rational and fearless. As we race to the finish, there are a few twists and turns that were surprises, which will lead us to the next book in this series. I look forward to see what happens with Claire, Liam and the rest of their friends.
