Sloan Jordan's life has been nothing but abnormal since the day she learned she could "summon" people by just picturing them with her mind! Nathan McNamara is on a quest to find the man who murdered his little sister, and that drive leads him straight into Sloan. And thus begins a mutual attraction between a man with a girlfriend who's the arch nemesis of our protagonist. *eyebrows waggle* Warren Parish, a Marine became intrigued by the "dead" woman walking when he spots her on TV. Needing to know why he can't see her soul, he investigates only to find out that he's not the only one with "the gift." And sparks fly. Together, they must figure out who's been terrorizing women in North Carolina to Georgia. And when the murderer targets Sloan, it'll take more than supernatural power to find her. (I was given this Advance Reader Copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review. Plus, spoiler-free.) If there is a way to get me hooked into reading a supernatural mystery book, it's by saying Elicia Hyder wrote it! Not only is the concept intriguing, but the writing is fabulous! Why I dare say her books are better than some of the big names! I enjoyed the journey with her main character, Sloan Jordan. All of Elicia's books are amazing! It was a pleasure to read such a work of art during a very crazy start of autumn! :) Hero rating: 5 stars Heroine rating: 4.5 stars Writing mechanics (literary elements/devices usage included): 3.5 stars Plot rating: 3.5 stars Dialogue rating: 4.5 stars Storytelling rating: 4 stars Story ending rating: 4.5 Sexual tension rating: 4 stars Sex scenes rating: N/A Sex scenes frequency: 1 stars (not good nor bad, just occurrence rating) ********************************************** Overall rating: 4 stars Would I recommend this series: Yes. Would I re-read this series: Yes. Would I read future books by this author: Yes.

This is a real good book Sloan and Nathan are good together. Than Warren enters and you can't decide who is the better hero. This is not what you would think it is by the title. Humor and maybe a few tears but all around real good story can t wait to read 2 and 3

Stars: 5 (out of 5) for overall story Chilies: 2 (out of 5) for heat between the sheets/or anywhere else Genre: Fantasy/Paranormal Chapters: 20 Ending: Minor cliffhanger, Kind of HEA Main Characters:  Sloan Jordan  Detective Nathan McNamara  Adrianne Marx  Warren Parish Series: The Soul Summoner, Book 1  The Detective - Novella  The Soul Summoner – Book 1  The Siren – Book 2  The Death Angel – Book 3 Review: This novel will have you sucked in from the very beginning and you will not be able to put it down. I absolutely loved this story. There are so many twists and turns, you won’t realize it until you read the last sentence. I absolutely love Sloan and her sense of humor, especially when she is uncomfortable. What woman wouldn't want to gorgeous alphas pinning for her, trying to win her 'attentions' as they solve multiple murders and catch a serial killer? Don’t miss out on reading this one. I can’t wait to read book 2! ARC read in exchange for honest review.

When I come across new authors, it is generally the title or book cover that causes me to read the back. I was intrigued with this title and, after hearing several people tell me how much they enjoyed it, picked up the book. I love a good mystery so started reading it right away. I enjoyed every bit of it! Mystery, supernatural, some comic relief and clean; this book has it all! The only downside was that the end felt a bit rushed. However, I was so immersed in the story, it felt as if I was there. I am absolutely recommending this book and am anxiously awaiting the rest of this series to arrive from Amazon so I can continue reading!

The Soul Summoner (Soul Summoner #1) by Elicia Hyder Suspenseful and imaginative, the story takes off quickly and draws the reader along a dark path of intrigue. The heroine uses her abilities to help search for a killer. When a stranger approaches, their touch sets off electric sparks that raise more questions. A thriller that I read in mostly one sitting. I didn't want to put it down. Just a touch of wry humor, a bit more of romance and a fast-paced serial killer mystery that I knew was going to be knocking at the heroine's door at any moment. I will be going directly to the next book in the series.

I don't do reviews but this writer deserves to be acknowledged. I am reading book three, my only critique would be I think, but I am a reader not a writer, extend the the story not break where it does, make a longer book.

Sloan Jordan is either blessed or cursed. She has a 'gift' ,, of sorts. She can determine if someone is alive or dead by just looking at a picture. She can determine from the living if they are 'good' or 'bad'. She calls it looking at their souls. Detective Nathan McNamara learns what Sloane's secret is. He's not quite sure if he believes her, but he's been working on a case for years. Eleven women have gone missing, never to be seen again. Nathan wants/needs Sloan to help him determine where they are and who took them. Sloane sees a stranger ... who she is immediately drawn to. She can't read his soul .. which has never happened to her before. When he shows up at her house, she finds that he also has a dark past and a secret similar to hers. "Now Sloan is on the hunt for a deadly psychopath with two irresistible men. One of them would die for her, and the other would kill to keep her safe." (From Book Blurb) It's not absolutely necessary, but I would recommend reading THE DETECTIVE, a short story that introduces these two main characters. This series has a little bit of everything ... murder, suspense, mystery, a touch of paranormal, romance. The characters are well defined and I like seeing a bit of personal history from each of them. This was well-written. There is no cliff-hanger, but it does have a hint of what's to come in the next book ... THE SIREN. No spoilers .... but I would be remiss if I did not mention how much I enjoyed the very last line in this book.

I can't remember how I found this book, but I'm glad I did. It was a quick read because I really liked the characters and plot and I couldn't put it down. And then I immediately jumped to the next book. Solid urban fantasy/paranormal romance.

This was amazing! I haven't laughed in such a long time in a murder mystery with a love triangle. Usually those things are beyond intense, and one love interest with bodies falling like flies is enough on a girl, but Sloan's got two and ten. The writing was great with Sloan's POV and her angst about people finding out what she can do felt so realistic, especially with the responses she got. That's why I loved it even more when she handled it like a boss, and took it with a grace that had nothing on her gift of... er, collecting? It's so important for me to get into a book, and I fell right through, reading til my eyelids gave out and finishing up as soon as I woke up. It was that good. The murder mystery was interesting with all the different characters coming and going, but I loved the connection between Sloan and Warren. So much going on with that; I love how smoothly it was delivered. Not once was I nervous about their relationship, and I definitely didn't have any bad feelings when she was with Nathan. If you can create a (and I use this word lightly) multiple relationship among two guys and still make it all work harmoniously and stuff, you are a writing deity. On top of the murder and sexy men, I also enjoyed seeing Sloan's struggles with wanting a normal life she worked hard for and doing what was right. At times I got annoyed (just once, I swear) but her best friend, Adrienne, was right there to clear it all up for her (Bless you, Adrienne). The characters were all adorable with enough presence to move the story along and bring the story itself out of the love-triangle situation and back into the case. Nathan and Warren were so genuine that I honestly had a hard time choosing one in the beginning. This story is filled with so many awesome things, a mystery with a creepy set of guys to point fingers at, a party-hardy best friend, hot guys who mean well, love, and the type of fear that one's brain can only attempt to put a face to if it means sleeping a little better at night... or not. A seriously definite recommend. You'll be missing out on thrills and laughs.

I had an extremely great time reading this book: the plot was new to me which was why I became very interested. The story developed quite well and there wasn't a dull moment, even though some parts were simply conversations between characters. It had just the right balance of romance and action which kept me going. Personally though, I did not quite like how things unfolded during the last third of the book. I guess I was rooting for someone else for Sloan. Ooops. Did I give away anything? I hope not. Anyway, I think the ending left me a lot of unanswered questions and I can't wait what happens next in the upcoming book(s).

I really love how this book takes the paranormal but sets it in the real world. Sloan may have "paranormal" powers but she is a normal person. She connects to people using a power that even she doesn't fully comprehend which leads her to hide her true self from everyone ... everyone except Detective Nathan who baffles her because for some reason he is blocked from her view. So what does that mean? Sloan is such a complex and beautiful character - I fell in love with her instantly because of her humanity in the face of her powers and all that she has seen. But she is thrust into using her powers to help find a serial killer albeit hesitantly and I do not envy her choice because both of the men she has on her side are "killer" sexy. But is one of them part of this? This book is a great read from start to finish and it weaves a lot of Sloans real life into the story as well - so we don't just see the chase but also who she is and why as well as how she got there. If you love paranormal books you should enjoy this :) I received a complimentary ebook in exchange for my honest review. No other compensation was received.
