About the Author

"Aurel Braun is Professor of International Relations at the University of Toronto. He received his Ph.D. from the London School of Economics. His works include The Warsaw Pact: Change and Modernization (forthcoming, Westview), Small-State Security in the Balkans (1983); Romanian Foreign Policy Since 1965: The Political Military Limits of Autonomy (1978); The Middle East in Global Strategy (editor) (Westview, 1987); and Ceausescu: The Problems of Power (1980). He is the author of numerous articles and chapters on Soviet-East European relations, the Warsaw Pact, the CMEA, and strategic issues. His articles have appeared in Obis, Problems of Communism, The International Journal, Millennium, and Sudosteuropa. "
