About the Author

Dianna Hardy is an international bestselling author of (cross-genre) fantasy fiction, most notable for her dark paranormal fantasy and the raw, intense Eye of the Storm series. But her heart-warming Once Times Thrice series proves she thrives in the light as much as the dark. Whatever your poison, what she loves most is to bring you stories that are action-packed, fast-paced and not short of heat, with the focus on character development, relationship dynamics, and the plot. She writes full-length novels and short fiction. Although quite active online, Dianna prefers the quiet company of nature and animals to the hustle and bustle of people. She loves anything paranormal (she doesn't really consider it "para"), organic food, walking barefoot, the smell of the woods after rain, and summer days. However, she is also sustained by coffee, chocolate and the occasional vodka. Having graduated from Richmond Drama School (London) in '98, she spent the next few years in a multitude of jobs (both acting and non-acting), studying anything that fascinated her, searching her soul, and finally found her passion where it had always been: at the end of a pen. She currently lives in South Hampshire (United Kingdom) with her fiancé and their daughter, where she writes full-time.

I just finished The Spell of Summer and I am crying happy tears. I’m also crying sad tears for the hardships everyone in the book went through. It was a travesty to learn what happened to them, but it was joyous to learn how they overcame it. It was a magical adventure. Everything happens for a reason and what is that reason was destined from the beginning. What if words that you didn’t know the meaning to ended up being the most important words you have ever spoken. Merri finds that out in more! I’m going to try and give a lot away with my review, so it’s going to be short and sweet. I don’t want to give y’all any hints. (because I’m evil muhahaha). The Spell of Summer took me by storm. I was expecting a romance story with a little magic and what I got was a journey to where all the magic began and how the decision you make determine your future. I have no idea if that made sense, but I’m going with it. Don’t live your life by what you think you should do, live it by what you want to do. No one has any control over your life but yourself and this is just another wonderful thing you take after from The Spell of Summer. Oh and just one more though. The ending was perfect and I wouldn’t have ended it any other way. I’m going to be biting my nails for the next one! Merri: Bless her heart. LoL She thought she knew what she wanted, but she had no idea. I found her to be courageous and strong. I love her spirit and how she always seems to pick herself up when she is down. She had lied to herself for years and all it takes is the change of wind for her to wake up. Jamie: What a romantic. He is so open about his life and love. He is dreamy and understanding and just what Merri needed, that sound like she needed a sip of him like a drink…..and moving on. ;) How can you resist a guy that is smoking hot and shows you that he cares…that’s right you don’t :D Overall: The Spell of Summer is Magically Delicious! I think it had some kind of spell over me because I couldn’t put it down. I don’t care who you are, what genre you like, The Spell of Summer is for you. If you don’t like then read it again because you obviously didn’t read it. LOL Quotes: We must be careful with our words – we’re like superheroes and words are like our super powers. Super powers should always be used to help others… “I love the sea. It’s full of secrets just waiting to be discovered,” his gaze met hers, “kinda like you.” “I get that events can colour a person, but they can’t change who you are deep down – they can’t change your soul.” “Don’t be sorry for the truth. A harsh truth is less damaging than a tender lie, and the worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves.” 5 Stars

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review. This is the first book in a new romance series by this author. I LOVED IT! Meredith Goodwill (Merri to her friends) is a wonderful character. She is an accountant and lives in London. She suffers from panic attacks, but is braver than she knows. I liked this character a lot. She has a big heart, but it was damaged when her father left. Now about to marry, Merri finds her past and present collide when an old flame comes back into her life. James (Jamie) Corbin is a marine biologist, coming home to Cornwall after a broken relationship in Australia. However, he can't forget the girl he met on the edge of a cliff 13 summers before.  This is a fantastic contemporary romance. This story is certainly different to the author's other paranormal series, as there are no shape shifters or magical beings, but there is magic. I started to read the story, and quickly found myself entranced. I was drawn into the story and I struggled to put the book down. I was whisked away into an emotional roller coaster ride from beginning to end. I loved meeting Merri's best friend, Candice North (Candy for short). She is a free spirit and, although not as wild as Merri was as a teenager, fun to be around. It was interesting to see how she had matured from a reckless teen into a woman with secrets. There are a few other interesting characters in the story, which were brought to life with their imperfections. I found myself reaching for a tissue or two as I read the story, as some of the characters have pasts and presents that touched me deeply. The story is not only told from the view points of Merri and Jamie, but also a few other characters too. I loved this, as it allowed me to see and feel what they did. Merri and Jamie fairly smolder together, and the heat between them was rather palpable. I found this story was peppered with pearls of wisdom. I don't normally put quotes in my reviews, but I couldn't not put this one in: "Love finds you, not the other way around, and you can't run from it." This is just one of many that have actually struck a chord in me. I also loved the wasp-stung ice cream scene; it made me giggle. I love little Rebecca, she is so adorable! The end of the story has a slight twist, and now I can't wait to read the next book in the series! Dianna Hardy has written a wonderful contemporary romance with a paranormal twist. I loved the fast pace and flow of the story. I am a huge fan of this author's work. Her characters are lifelike, likable, and sexy. As this story has a few scenes of a sensual nature that are a bit on the explicit side, I do not recommend this book to readers under 17. However, I highly recommend this book if you love contemporary or paranormal romance. - Lynn Worton

The spell of summer (once trice thrice) by Dianna Hardy  Dianna Hardy’s Spell of Summer proves that magic does exists and that no matter what if you are meant to be together then you will be. Regardless of how much time passes if you are meant to be it will be.  When Meredith says another man’s name at the alter on her wedding day her fiancée Michael decides that they need some time apart to reassess their commitment to each other. Even though she is upset by this Meredith goes along with his wishes and goes back to her home town. A place she hasn’t been since she was 16 when she left with her mother to make a new start in London. On her last night their Meredith meets Jamie when he saves her life; he then shows her the best night of her life. Even though Meredith and Jamie went their separate ways and they had lives of their own 13 years latter fate shows them what was meant to be. It is not all smooth sailing and what about Michael? With a little bit of magic anything is possible! Spell of summer is a wonderfully written book and I found it enthralling. It is nice to let some magic into my life and reminds us to let some” magic” into our own lives. A lovely romance was a pleasure to read this ARC for my honest review. Would recommend this to anyone.

This was very different than Dianna Hardy's other novels. I am used to a fairly dark paranormal feel from her, and this was much more light and airy (I know it sounds weird, but that's what it was). The paranormal aspect was possibly there - depending on what your definition of magic and fate are. Meredith doesn't really believe in either one, but finds her life caught up in it just the same. This is a story of her finding herself and remembering who she really is and wants to be.  There are several female characters that we grow close to along the way, all fighting their own battles. It looks like their stories will be told in the next book(s). I love how their lives were so important to the telling of Meredith's story. Nothing would have turned out the way it did without them, and Meredith would have been a very different person. I can't wait to read more about them.  Jamie was just a tad lacking in depth for me. While everyone else seemed to have some deep buried secret clouding their lives, he swept in like a ray of saving sunshine to make things better. While it did make him stand out from the other characters, it wasn't always in the best way. How could he ever hope to understand what everyone was dealing with when he wasn't dealing with much himself. That small piece of his history aside, he was quite the dreamy hero. Calling him a "poetic soul" is a perfect description. Somehow the right words always seem to find him at just the right times.  Meredith and Jamie struggle a little - like most people do. But their romance was actually very very sweet and classic. It wasn't super exciting or overy dramatic - it was just very real, and sometimes that's the best kind there is.  *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*
