About the Author

Malerie Scammey's love for reading sparked her desire to become an author at her young age. Her inspiration really came to life in 3rd grade. That year she was 'Librarian for a Day' at her school. She wrote her first short stories and one of her original poems Birdies was published in the 2014 Young American Poetry Digest. She was encouraged by her 3rd grade teacher to write to a couple authors and she was delighted when she heard back from all of them which motivated her even more to become a writer. Her 5th grade teacher suggested that she participate in the unique and award-winning Page 15 Young Writers Summer Camp which rekindled her passion to become a published author.

Malerie was born in Independence, Kansas and has lived in Ankeny, Iowa; Granger, Iowa; and Bucyrus, Kansas. She currently resides in Orlando, Florida where she is in the 6th grade. She is a columnist in journalism class and on the yearbook staff at her school. Her interests besides writing include reading, drawing, dancing, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and animals including alicorns, dolphicorns, unicorns and flying wolves.

As with many writers, she already has ideas and notes and multiple pages of planning for her next books and support from her family.
