About the Author

John grew up in Boone, NC, and went to the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill, majoring in Journalism. During his career, he was publisher of The Topeka (KS) Capital-Journal and the Naples (FL) Daily News; assistant general manager and the managing editor of The Augusta (GA) Chronicle; city editor of the York (PA) Daily Record; and managing editor of the The Robesonian in Lumberton, NC.
He currently lives in Winston-Salem, NC. Shortly after his brain cancer operation, John wrote a
series of blogs from 2008 to 2010, which you can find on a web site—johnjfishblog.com. The site provides a compelling look at John’s life following the operation.
