ABOUT GURU ZUZU

SOMETIMES, SOMEONE COMES INTO YOUR LIFE AND YOU KNOW RIGHT AWAY THEY'RE MEANT TO BE THERE. IT'S AS IF THEY'RE A CATALYST FOR SOME CHANGE THAT'S ABOUT TO OCCUR IN YOUR LIFE.

IT COULD INVOLVE ANY ONE OF A THOUSAND THINGS: TO DO WITH LOVE, WITH OTHERS, EVEN WITH YOUR INNERMOST SELF.

SOMETIMES — AS FATE WILL HAVE IT — THOSE SPECIAL BEINGS THAT COME TO HELP US TURN OUT NOT TO BE HUMAN, BUT FELINE.

ONCE UPON A TIME, A LITTLE BLACK GREEN-EYED PUSSYCAT CAME INTO MY LIFE AND WAS ONE SUCH WISE BEING.

I CALLED HER ZUZU — AFTER "ZUZU'S PETALS" FROM FRANK CAPRA'S WONDROUS 1946 FANTASY FILM, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, WHERE A LITTLE DAUGHTER'S GIFT OF ROSE PETALS BECOMES A REMINDER OF THE SANCTITY OF LIFE.

AS THE YEARS PASSED, ZUZU TAUGHT ME SO MANY WONDERFUL THINGS THAT I CAME TO THINK OF HER AS "THE BLESSED GURU ZUZU." I STILL DO.

EVEN THOUGH ZUZU'S NOW GONE FROM THIS WORLD, HER GENTLE WISDOM LIVES ON IN ME.

SEARCH OUT SPECIAL PLACES, SAFE PLACES, SECURE PLACES TO BE ALONE IN, AND YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND YOURSELF.

ALWAYS PAY ATTENTION. IT REPAYS DIVIDENDS IN MORE WAYS THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE.

JUST BECAUSE IT MOVES, DOESN'T NECESSARILY MEAN THAT IT'S FOOD FOR YOU.

EVERYTHING COMES TO THOSE WHO PUT THEMSELVES IN THE RIGHT PLACE AND WAIT.

HOW YOU SEE THE WORLD DEFINES WHAT YOU SAY NO TO.

TAKE TIME TO BE STILL, TO BE QUIET, SPHINX-LIKE, AND LIFE WILL OPEN UP TO YOU IN MYRIAD WAYS.

ALWAYS BE PREPARED TO FIGHT FOR WHAT YOU KNOW TO BE RIGHT.

IF YOU CAN WALK WITH KINGS AND NOT LOSE THE COMMON TOUCH, THE PATH WILL ALWAYS OPEN UP FOR YOU.
