The Udala Tree

In this African folktale, an orphan boy named Ahaudo lives with his unkind stepbrothers and stepmother. One day, he plants an udala-tree seed. The tree grows before his eyes. He gives the fruit to his family. When Ahaudo's stepbrothers climb the tree after he asks them not to, Ahaudo makes the tree grow into the clouds. His stepmother tells him she will treat him fairly if he makes the tree shrink, so he does.
